Here is what happened in the Americas gaming market in the past week:
Nevada casinos generate $1.3bn for December 2022
Nevada #casinos have had a strong finish to 2022, winning over $1bn for the 22nd consecutive month – Strip casinos have won a record monthly high of $814.2m. The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that the Silver State’s 434 licensed casinos won $1.3bn in wagers from gamblers, a 14.3% annual increase. The Strip’s record win was 25.1% higher than the amount generated in the same prior year period. This is the highest percentage increase of the 20 state markets monitored by the Control Board. Mohegan joins forces with Soloviev Group in NYC casino bid
Mohegan has joined Soloviev Group in a bid open a casino in Freedom Plaza, New York. This bid joins a host of others, as the New York State Gaming Commission announced it will be issuing three downtown casino licenses which are all still up for grabs. There has been fierce competition for these multi-billion dollar licenses among the biggest operators, including Wynn Resorts and Caesars. Sands announced its intention to develop a casino in Nassau County, Long Island earlier this month. Read the full article here.

National Council on Problem Gambling releases iGaming standards report
The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has released an assessment of the consumer protection regulations implemented by states, as laid out in its Internet Responsible Gaming Standards (IRGS). The report, entitled 'US Online Responsible Gaming Regulations: An Evaluation Against National Council on Problem Gambling Standards,' reported that four of the seven states where iGaming is legal fall drastically short of the NCPG’s minimum responsible gaming standards.
