Gamification in HR and its impact on employee engagement has become a hot topic in today’s corporate. This has shown increased engagement of the employees in the corporate workspace while making their work profile all the more interesting, enjoyable and engaging. Gamification has been instilled in almost all the phases of employee life cycle.
Recruitment- Enhancing the candidate experience has been a target for many recruiters post the Covid pandemic, amidst the work from home culture. Quizzes can be organized and coordinated during the selection rounds on the corporate awareness or company knowledge. This carries the recruitment experience ahead of the conventional methods. Even Group Discussion rounds which are employed by many recruiters can be conducted with audio-visual rounds or infographics.
Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality- This domain can be incorporated during training sessions. For the corporate sales domain, the salesmen can be trained as if presenting the product/service to real life customers. Not only this, the hotel industry can also adopt this technique to make the trainees more seasoned to cater to the requirements of the guests.

Simulations & Role Play- Simulations and role play are excellent tools to engage the employees in understanding real life complex situations. Elaborate cases can be laid out before the employees or the managers which can then be discussed and deliberated upon via vigorous brainstorming sessions.
Apart from these, a number of team building games can also be played and coordinated amongst the employees to foster team spirit and enhanced morale. Some of the top Companies and MNCs who have integrated Gamification in their corporate culture include Dominos Pizzas, Microsoft, Cisco and such others. Dominos has introduced a Master Pizza Making Course – a gamification training course which made the employees learn and master the Pizza menus faster with greater accuracy. Deloitte on the other hand introduced gaming elements into the training program that includes leadership boards, tags, badges and certifications. Many executives termed this training program as “addictive”.
This practice can be incorporated as a means of making the workplace a desirable one.
