GameTime Excellence: What the 1% do

I wrote this piece below as I was taking the time to reflect on 2019. I was happy about the memories of the past year but also disappointed at the same time. These feelings left me desiring more in 2020, which is always exciting. The statement that kept going through my mind for 2020 was “the type of harvest I will have this time next year will be determined by how I decide to use my TIME going forward. We all have the power to grow and improve.”

The thoughts of I how I could improve in 2020 were racing through my mind because there is always that 1% that can be gained to get you to that next level. This is what I have done throughout my career. I have also seen the best of the best do this same thing. Such as Tom Brady, Jarvis Landry, Bill Belichick, Cameron Wake, and many other elite level athletes as well as coaches had GameTime Excellence. You see these particular individuals perform at an elite level when it’s game time but GameTime Excellence is something that was practiced before the game began in their Mission, Maintenance, and Mindset. They know how to maximize time to have peak performance (GameTime Excellence). GameTime Excellence is a program I created to achieve peak performance. My goal this year is to ignite elite performance in you, your team and the leadership.

What will you do with the time you have now?

From an early age, we’re taught to value possessions.

To smile at the Mercedes-Benz logo on a steering wheel 

To window shop until our checkout carts and wish lists are full

To move into a neighborhood that suggests a livelihood

In a house that whispers the secrets of our tax brackets

The newsfeed we glue our eyes to is saturated by price tags and amazing deals

Yet the only possession with the weight to anchor the others

In unanimous fashion, is Time 

The endless stream of change that remains our only constant

The elusive circle that is undoubtedly, always rotating forward 

It is our sweet juice that we lose as we use 

The vast gap between generations of babies

The ultimate healer of pain and negligence 

And the most precious resource we could hope to maintain

Time is always at a point of no return 

We cannot grasp the seconds that disappear behind us 

We fail to buy more for our brothers and sisters who have run out 

There are no return tickets to the moments before now 

We are locked in its perpetual progression 

And our resistance to its current is what ages us faster

And knowing that, we still struggle to allow that reality to become

A catalyst for efficiency and resourcefulness

And we become victim to a wasteful nature

Of inactivity and idle minds 

While we stumble in a room of empty things

Wondering where our dreams went 

There are cemeteries all around us, full of dreams

The wilted leaves of desire 

The skeletons of will power 

The decay of a drive that was built

to travel the journey through Time 

These dying dreams are grown from the same crop

That harvested leaders, legends and trailblazers 

And in their wake, lies a bed of untapped potential 

You hold the power to unlock that potential 

Expose yourself to the sunlight of wisdom and mentorship 

Bathe in the daily cleanse of dedication and commitment 

Nestle into the fertile soil of love and community 

So that when you begin to emerge in your field 

Your roots can be planted in the stability of a support system 

Use the resources near you to propel you to the next rung 

The next milestone, the next tier of survival 

Because the storms are coming, but pain is temporary in the eyes of Time 

The shovel recognizes the hands 

Of both The Gravedigger and The Gardener 

But only the wage of one is greater than money 

Because Time tells the story of a planted seed 

Burrowing its way into the height of a tree 

That breathes with us

Feeds us 

And uplifts a forest behind it

Fulfill your purpose 

And turn your dream into a reality
