If you’re paying attention, you might notice a new trend taking over sports.

In this new game, the GOATS are getting ghosted.?

In College Basketball, UConn took down Zach Eddy’s Purdue Boilermakers.?

In the women’s game, South Carolina took down Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes.?

This week…

In the #NBA, the Boston Celtics took down Luca Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks.?

In the game or series that mattered most, the best player on the court, floor and ice was topped and toppled.

It makes me ponder if The Golden Age of GOAT is no longer.

In the spirit of bringing everyone along…

For those who have no clue what a GOAT is…

GOAT = Greatest Of All Time.?

Tom Brady is a GOAT.?

Michael Jordan is a GOAT.

Abby Wambach is a GOAT.

Lionel Messi is a GOAT.?

If the GOAT is sunsetting, then the SQUID is on the rise.

SQUID = Shared Quest Upends Individual Desires

UConn Huskies.?

South Carolina Gamecocks.?

Boston Celtics.?

Florida Panthers.

Their greatness was achieved from collective excellence.?

So how do you focus your corporate squad on being more like a SQUID and less like a GOAT?

It starts with a singular?shared?quest the team can rally around.?

Easy to say but hard to commit to.

Why?

1. Because you have too many priorities.?

Hey, Leader…have you prioritized your priorities?

2. Because it’s hard to strum up an inspirational narrative (quest) that the full team?wants?to buy in on.?

  • soul-stirring
  • squad-focused

It’s not enough to know your why;

Inject a?rally cry?in that?why.
