Game Mechanics
We use “Game Mechanics” when designing games and toys, and we also use it for designing company loyalty experiences and for any experience when one is trying to change a behavior in a positive way!?On a basic level game mechanics are the rules of the game or rules of the loyalty program etc. If they are meaningful and have purpose the experience can be a good one. If poorly designed, we find people get annoyed and go elsewhere. Golf is one of the most popular sports in the world. The object is to get the ball into the hole, the easiest way to do this would be to pick up the ball and walk down the fairway onto the green and drop the ball into the hole. Too easy, not very good game mechanics, the rules of golf make it more challenging (sometimes too challenging) but they are well thought out. We just had one of our first rains in Northern California, here I am either hitting either a hole in one or whiffing at the ball. You can decide.?

When I had the pleasure of sharing coffee with Michelle last year she mentioned you have strong opinions on loyalty programs! Would love to hear them one day!
