The Game of Life, and how to Win it.
Warren Buffet on the Importance of Maximizing Potential.

The Game of Life, and how to Win it.

Warren Buffet once said "If you don't find a way to earn while you sleep, you'll work till you die."

Whilst this may be true, I defer to caption in the image on this article as the most important factor and consideration when it comes to making life a success.

Life is all about maximising potential and then leveraging that potential to create a life that you can be proud of. One that provides deep satisfaction, through the virtues of meaning, purpose and fulfilment and a way to earn while you sleep!

Life is also about learning, growing and evolving through experience and expression. It's about constantly elevating and levelling up our consciousness and our capabilities with the aspects that make up the entirety of our lives, being Mental, Emotional, Physical and Spiritual which then translate to external virtues such as our Financial, Social, Relational status or standing.

Life is a perpetual meant to be a perpetual Spiral of Conscious Elevation, Illumination and Evolution as we learn and grow through the experiences we encounter and the challenges we face and overcome.

Warren Buffett is a fine example of someone who maximised his potential in a field and endeavour that he clearly thrived in and in one that also brough him tremendous joy.

At age 93, he has (and continues) to play the Game of life to perfection and has won it on almost every measure as far as we know or are privy to.

Let's take a look at some of the key attributes that made Warren Buffett a success.

  • He found something he loved to do and that he was very proficient at.
  • He created a career and a company around that passion with people he loved to be with as evidenced by his low staff turnover and longevity.
  • He overcome self-doubt and limitations by taking the right actions and making the right decisions at the right time through a combination of self-awareness and conscious intent.
  • He was consistently reading, growing and learning and his business and enterprise ventures grew as he grew.
  • He focused and channelled all of his energy and effort in to minding his own business (investments) and what he was good at.
  • He minded his own Business and affairs without meddling in the affairs of others where no value could be added.
  • He kept his business model simple and he built his fortune steadily over time through compounded leverage to create exponential growth in his investments, assets and wealth.
  • He lived frugally whist focusing on his core business and investments, meaning his mind was on the job, all the time, without distractions.
  • He was and still is humble, genuine and honest and offers just as much advice on life through anecdotes as he does in his investment reports and in his investor relations.

When one invests with Berkshire Hathaway, one is not necessarily investing in share holdings, one is investing in Warren's Wisdom, which is a combination of the Trust and Reputation he has built over a lifetime.

Warren is measured, and only talks about the things he's comfortable with sharing from experience and his understanding of a situation which incidentally give him tremendous foresight and knack for being right, owing to his Righteousness.

In a Business where forecasting or predicting the future based on a fundamental understanding economics is vital, 'being right' more often than not, is the key determinant of his success.

The other key is being the first mover and getting ahead of the game, not only in investing, but in every facet of life.

Warren's overall success can be attributed to his Humility and Integrity, built on his Character and Demeanour.

Warren is universally liked which is extremely rare for a noteworthy figure his stature and vintage which is, once again, testament to the character he has built over a lifetime, and the value he has offered to those who have chosen to invest in and with him.

Whilst it is a noble pursuit to want to build Wealth, to provide for one's family and contribute to one's community or society, what is more important, as demonstrated by Warren is;

Who one Becomes.

What one is remembered for in terms of impact & legacy.

The relationships and memories formed along the way.

Because these are the True Measures of Success in Life, and not the assets accumulated, nor the material Wealth which incidentally are a consequence of the above virtues and not the cause.

"True Wealth lies not in what we possess but in 'How' we share our Gifts with the World."

Warren would be the first to attest to this, because although though is fortune is unfathomable, his decision and public declaration to give away the vast majority of his Wealth is testament to that.

"To him that Hath - he who is righteous, grateful and humble - more will be given."

Warren once said that at the end of your Life, you want to be remembered for the Love others had for you which can also translate to the Love you had for others.

In the end, to earn more, or even find a way to earn whilst we sleep, we need to become more. More of what?

Ourselves.

To make the most of ourselves and find a way to Invest in, leverage and compound our unique Gifts and Talents (Telos) and to 'maximise our potential' and create the life we know we are capable of, for our reality is ultimately a by-product and reflection of who we are or who we become, within and without.

Success comes down to a combination of knowing who you are, what you like and what you're good at along with a positive and optimistic attitude, more than it does about being the falsest learner or being the smartest in the room.

Overcoming challenges by working smart, having grit, persistence, patience, perseverance and determination (resilience & self-discipline) by doing what you say you were going to do, being Goal oriented and able to adapt and evolve with the times, are the other crucial factors in winning that Game and Journey of Life.

Do what you Love and what is meant for you, for what feels right is what lights you up, what is good for you, and challenges you.

Remember Albert Einstein's words – “Try not to become a person of success. Rather become a person of value.” This holds profound insight into what true success entails. It’s about creating value – for yourself, for others, and for the world.

The Game of Life is ultimately about Value Creation, Value Exchange though Commerce and Contribution to Evolution…and who we become through this contribution and service to our fellow human beings, to our families and our communities.

Build. Excite. Ignite.

This is the only Path and Way to Freedom and life filled with Fulfilment and Joy.
