Entrepreneurship has been my favorite sport for the past 15 years. It’s the one game I never get tired of playing.

There’s a thrill in it that I don’t think any other pursuit could match. And like any sport, it comes with high stakes, lessons in resilience, and the ultimate payoff — seeing your efforts translate into real impact.

When I first got into the game, I had no idea it would become a lifelong pursuit. I thought I’d put in a few years, fall on my face, and go back to the corporate world.

But as each year passed, my understanding of the game grew, and the stakes felt higher — especially considering everything I had risked to become an entrepreneur.

I was no longer just “playing” at it. I was committed to it, the same way an athlete is dedicated to their sport.

What I love most about this game? It’s always evolving. There’s no “finish line” in the business world.

Sure, we have goals — whether that’s becoming the go-to expert in our field, hitting a revenue milestone, creating palpable impact, or earning the right to stop working.

But the game itself? It doesn’t end. It keeps presenting new challenges, new moves to make, and, if we’re lucky, new ways to level up.

Thing is, every business owner I talk with seems to hit the same obstacle: the comparison game. The game within the game that we all play (at some point or another), even if we don’t admit it.

We scroll through LinkedIn, check out what competitors are doing, and wonder if our latest idea stands a chance in the market. It’s tempting to think that if we’re not the biggest player in our industry, the first mover, or even a Purple Cow, then we’re already falling behind.

But let me ask you — does the thought of a crowded market make sports any less exciting? If anything, competition is fuel. It sharpens our strategy, makes us bolder, and, most importantly, keeps us engaged.

When I think about my business journey, it’s not the smooth seasons I remember. It’s the close calls, the audacious decisions, and the big wins that came after months (sometimes years) of grinding.

Here’s my challenge for you this coming week: Think of your business as your sport.

Embrace the unknowns. Anticipate the setbacks. Get curious about your playbook. Experiment with new moves. And most importantly, remember why you got into the game in the first place.

You’re here because you know — consciously or otherwise — that you have the ability to bring value to your clients in a way no one else can.

Right? Remember that. Internalize it.

Yes, there will be other players on the field. But there’s a market for the unique way you show up, the experience you create, and the solutions you bring.

And there’s always more room than you think. The game is far bigger than any individual player or single season.

To make sure you never lose, all you need to do is keep playing. I won’t stop if you don’t.

Here's to our next season.

?? 1,810% profit growth?

I screwed up last week. My free workshop on growing your consulting & coaching profits by 1,810% blew up because of technical difficulties.

To make up for it, I recorded it so you can watch on your own time.
