As i was?watching the last test match of Ashes'23, i was drawn into the debate of traditional Test match vs bazball with few of the my cricket enthusiasts. Different views, different examples from so many different eras of legendary cricketers with so many different playing?styles and many more..... but we all agreed on one point that Bazball has revived Test cricket and true cricket fans are experiencing the brilliance of Test cricket again... "Experience" is what again making a difference ?
And then we also started to draw some striking parallels between this beautiful game of cricket and the significance of delivering excellent customer experiences at every touchpoint. Some?linkages?we saw :?
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: In cricket, a "strong team" is essential for victory. Just like each player's contribution counts, every interaction with a customer leaves a lasting impression in any business, making teamwork indispensable in creating memorable experiences. A strong Team converts the dream work with team work. A team has to become strong before they become Champions.
The Art of Adaptation: Cricket teams adapt their strategies based on the pitch conditions and opponents. Likewise, businesses must tailor their approach at every customer touchpoint. Understanding customer preferences and providing tailored solutions create a seamless experience akin to a well-timed straight?drive.
Delivering on Promises: In cricket, players aim to fulfill their roles and deliver on promises made to their team. Similarly, in customer experience, it's vital to meet and exceed customer expectations consistently, every time. Trust is built when customers see that an organization stands true to its commitments again and again.
Spectacular Saves and Recovery: In cricket, stunning fielding efforts can turn the game around. Similarly, exceptional recovery after service mishaps can win back customer trust. Going the extra mile to rectify issues demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Celebrating Small Wins: Cricketers acknowledge every run scored; A quickfire 20s or 30s are as important as a century.?Similarly, celebrating small customer experience victories is crucial. Recognizing and appreciating efforts lead to a positive work culture, inspiring employees to strive for excellence.
Captaincy in Customer Experience: Just as a cricket captain sets the team's vision, leaders must drive a customer-centric culture. But just like cricket, it's not just the captain's responsibility. Every team member plays a part in realizing the vision.
In conclusion, the game of cricket beautifully illustrates the essence of teamwork, adaptability, and delivering on promises—values that resonate deeply in delivering excellent customer experiences.
I have few friends who have played serious cricket at many different levels, and few friends who love playing it as a leisure sport at their society or club level including some who are just cricket enthusiasts... the common thread is the the love of cricket and the experience it provides.
We all need to take inspiration from the spirit of cricket and make customer-experience a priority or a way of life within our organizations. Together, we can hit customer experience for a six to build lasting relationships with our valued customers! #CustomerExperience #Teamwork #CustomerCentricity #GameOfCricket #CustomerDelight

1 年Perfect!! Any sports teaches tons of things, having played cricket I can relate to the analogy totally. 1. Sometimes as a batsman hitting the new ball is easy; when bowling is tight yiu need to see thru the new ball bowlers for easier batting - Tough times never last but tough people do! 2. You have to change the plans basis field set, bowling or oppositions strategy - accelerate the run-rate or stay on ptich - Move you cheese when it's time. 3. Not all good shots go for maximum (6s or 4s) at-times stat focused and keep getting those 1 and 2s - Big wins will come but continous flow of revenue is equally important to keep going. 4. Plan the execution strategy not only basis oppositions strengths but the pitch/ conditions and know your strengths- Know your own strengths and focus on them. I can go on with few more... 1 年To add, your analogy is absolutely correct for most of the team sports. In fact, companies hiring for positions that require people to have exceptional interpersonal skills, then being an active or earlier active sportsperson should be one of the parameters for selection with high weightage.
