Sport Design Australia
We help professional sports organisations win off the field with creative services that engage fans & increase revenue.
Hey it’s Cass, Reece & Ryan from Sport Design Australia. We're back again for another edition of the weekly Game Changer.
In case you missed it last week, we have officially launched the 2024 Sport Design Australia Awards. We know that so many in the industry have been balling out over the past 12 months delivering content that deserves recognition. That's why we've launched the Sport Design Australia Awards. Entries are open to individuals & teams, and close on 18th October. Make sure you start getting your submissions ready. The best part is that entry is free.
In this week's edition of Game Changer, we share what the St Kilda Women's team created to surprise one of their players with her debut announcement. The return of the catwalk video is back in US sports and the Colts are making the most of it. And last, but certainly not least, if you haven't seen this great piece of storytelling from the Penrith Panthers team, you're about to get a case of the goosebumps - it's time for "The Last Ride". This week is jam packed with great content.
ST KILDA MIXING THINGS UP TO SURPRISE EMMELIE FIELDER
We love seeing how teams and leagues execute in those moments that are done in high volume. It's tough to innovate and come up with different ideas to keep the surprise factor and strike the appropriate amount of excitement. This example by St Kilda Football Club in surprising their new recruit Emmelie Fielder is simple, uncomplicated and delivers the raw excitement and emotion a moment like that deserves. You don't always need the most complex ideas to deliver content that slaps. Congratulations to St Kilda and Emmelie.

CATWALK CAM IS BACK AND THE COLTS HAVE DELIVERED CINEMATIC MAGIC
Last year the Catwalk Cam rose in prominence, particularly across the NBA and NFL. We loved it last year, and we're loving that it's back in all of it's glory. The Chiefs have also been playing around with the overhead camera to start their season too, with epic output. But this Indianapolis Colts edit is so simply beautiful. It captures a 60 yard bomb from Anthony Richardson, and just feels so crisp. We love seeing this alternate perspective of big plays. For content teams, keep thinking about how one moment can be experience in different ways.
THE LAST RIDE: THE PANTHERS EPIC NARRATIVE TO MARK THEIR FINALS CAMPAIGN
There is no doubting the credentials of the Penrith Panthers on the field over the past 5 years. 4 Grand Finals, 3 Premierships and they're on "The Last Ride" this season aiming for their fourth straight title. The same could be said for the Panthers content & creative team, who have levelled up each year in telling the story of the men from the West. This piece will give even the most anti-Panthers fan goosebumps watching it. A well crafted call to arms for fans to continue the ride deep into the finals.?
