Game Changer for SMBs = Getting the Right People in the Right Seats!
Christina Hobbs

In the competitive landscape of small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), hiring the right people is more crucial than ever. It's not just about filling positions; it's about ensuring that each team member is in the right seat, maximizing their potential and driving the company forward.? There is no room or time for looking back, being reactive or unsteady. This is a game changer!
Why does it matter?? For SMBs, every single hire is a strategic investment.? There are no unnecessary hires. Unlike large corporations, where roles and responsibilities can overlap or departments seem to be heavy on headcount, each team member in an SMB often wears multiple hats and is very “finish line driven”. ONE wrong hire can disrupt the entire operation, leading to inefficiencies, decreased morale, and ultimately, lost revenue. Conversely, the right hire can catalyze growth, innovation, and a positive company culture.? Think if the entire team were the right hires!!!

So, how do we do it?? Finding the right fit goes beyond matching skills to job descriptions. It's about aligning values, attitudes, and work styles with the company's culture and goals. An employee who resonates with the company’s mission will not only perform better but also contribute to a cohesive and motivated team.? It’s a recipe for the best dish you’ve ever tasted – 2 cups skills and experience, 2 cups aligned behavioral traits (I personally like to utilize Culture Index - www.cultureindex.com), 2 cups interview interaction and relatability, 1 cup tenacity, 2 tsp refusal to be mediocre, 2 tsp drive to make an impact and a dash of salt.? If even one item does not align, it is not a matter of if the hire won’t work out, it is a matter of when.?Choose not to waste this precious time!
Hiring the right people in the right seats is not just a strategy; it is a requirement. We do not get to ignore this.? By focusing on fit, clearly defined roles, culture and “ways of working” alignment, we WILL build a powerhouse team poised for success. Remember, every employee is an ingredient in your company's future—make each one count and do not alter the recipe.
