Game Cartridge-the untold story

Game Cartridge-the untold story

If you’ve ever used a game cartridge, you have two men who invented the game cartridge 40 years ago while working at an obscure company and rebounding from a business failure to thank.

From inception, they designed the game cartridge/console to work with a common home TV as its display device. So Alpert first target was American TV manufacturers as potential partners. In early 1975, they approached Sylvania, Zenith, RCA, and Motorola (which once made TV sets), with demos of the console under strict NDA's. "None of them were interested," recalls Kirschner (one of the pair). "They had their heads in the sand, just coming out of the vacuum tube age, and they didn't do transistorized electronic designs themselves. That's why they later disappeared."

Its always amazing to see behind the scenes of corporate extinctions and I love the faux wood finish.
