Galvion’s power management solutions will revolutionise modern warfare - We’re seeking units to put them to the test

Technology today is advancing at an increasingly swift pace. Conversations about the future of AI are being held in every faction of society and there’s a distinct buzz of excitement, and some trepidation, about where all of this could lead us.

For the modern soldier, technological advancements are a game-changer. Today’s battlefield is a digital one and information is power. Soldiers on the ground are finding themselves operating in an increasingly data-driven way, with crucial information imparted through a multitude of digital sources. When deployed effectively, this advanced technology can grant troops significant operational advantages in even the most inhospitable landscapes.

This almost sounds too good to be true. There’s nearly always a catch, at least in the beginning, and military technology has so far been no exception to this rule. Whilst the rapid evolution in technical capabilities has brought significant advantages for today’s Servicemen and women, these gains come with an inevitable pitfall, and that pitfall is energy.?

Every item of electronic brilliance is bound by its power source, a limitation that is currently mitigated with a litany of spare batteries, cables and charging apparatus - there’s rarely a one-size-fits-all solution. Parallel to this is the energy of the soldier, whose physical battery is further impeded by the burden of more and more weight. It’s estimated that the average soldier carries at least 30kg of gear, with many carrying more than double this amount. This added weight equates to a reduction in speed, efficiency and reaction time, not to mention the distractions presented by the logistical labour of operating and maintaining multiple electronic devices. And as we know, distractions are dangerous.

Introducing Galvion . With US Headquarters in New Hampshire, and additional facilities in Massachusetts, Vermont, Montreal and the UK, Galvion has established itself as an international leader in the provision of innovative solutions which support the modern soldier. Specialising in the design and development of protective equipment and novel tech apparatus, Galvion’s latest suite of power supply and management products stands to completely revolutionise the landscape of military operations as we know it.

Galvion’s Nerv Centr power management and supply products seek to streamline the process through which power is harvested, stored and distributed, thus minimising both the physical and mental burden on the soldier. Drawing on observations made in other areas of military combat, this innovative range enables the user to tap into newfound flexibility, without compromise. The Nerv Centr collection includes ruggedised devices which possess the capability to integrate with over 200 types of batteries and power sources, negating the need for endless supplies of batteries and charging units. Upon finding themselves in need of charge when operating out in the field, users can “scavenge” for the power as they would food and water. Nerv Centr products grant them the means to tap into a single power source for the simultaneous charging and operation of multiple devices.

Galvion best illustrates this powerful capability on its website:

Our portfolio of power products enables users to treat power as a combat supply that can be found, harvested, stored and used flexibly at the very lowest level. Taking a cue from lessons learned in managing ammunition and water at the individual or squad level, our products enable operators to do the same with power.”

You don’t need us to tell you that developments in technology such as this could stand to entirely revolutionise the digital military space - Galvion’s systems are already being adopted by US Marine Corps. However, amidst talk of advancing drone potential, enhanced concealment and observational intelligence systems and increasingly intuitive AI capabilities, “Power Solutions” perhaps don’t seem like the most exciting part. Nevertheless, by removing much of the mental and physical burden presented by the power conundrum and replacing it with a single source of power, Galvion grants the soldier an invaluable gift - an enhancement of their own energy and focus.?

Brigantes Technical Products Lead, Terry Bryan CGC commented:

“Galvion's power management solutions are really pushing boundaries and paving the way for the future of technological advancements, both on and off the field. By drawing inspiration from diverse sources, including some of the essential components of basic training such as sourcing water, Galvion advances beyond the conventional to bring novel advantages to today’s soldiers.”

Much of the Brigantes team has a significant history of military service and so we possess an integral understanding of the importance of the right kit. The best equipment is intelligent, multi-functional and built using high-quality materials, but this alone isn’t enough. Robust user testing in a military environment is a vital component of our procurement process, and this is where you come in. We’re seeking military units with innovation funds who would like to trial the Galvion suite of power solutions; An offering which includes system training and a direct line of communication throughout the process, not forgetting the rare opportunity to pioneer the future of modern warfare. If you’re interested in learning more about this state-of-the-art technology, please get in touch.
