Good evening. The activities or techniques I have learnt and used in trainings are primarily from Training from the BACK of the Room (TBR). There are 6 Brain Science principles that forms the backbone of Sharon Bowman's 'Training from the BACK of the Room' also known as 6 Trumps
- Movement Trumps Sitting
- Talking Trumps Listening
- Images Trumps Words
- Different Trumps Same
- Shorter Trumps Longer
- Writing Trumps Reading
All the activities and techniques have one or more of the Brain Science Principle behind it. For example in my previous articles we discussed Pop-Ups and Celebrations.
Pop-up is a combination of movement trumps sitting and shorter trumps longer. People are getting out of their seats (movement) and sharing one short statement about the concepts they learnt.
Celebrations on the other hand uses movement trumps sitting and different trumps same Attendees are standing, dancing, doing funny moves like car wash, all these are so different from a conventional commencement ceremony.
The third activity, I'd like to share today is the Gallery Walk, as the name suggests the brain science principle behind it is Movement trumps sitting, talking trumps listening and Images trumps words. Gallery walk can be used as a opening, closing or a review activity.
My favorite Gallery walk, on the 2nd day of the TBR class, all the attendees create their instructional design and content based on 4C's map that they learn in the class. Everyone works on the flip chart and put it up on the wall. Instructors and all attendees visit each creative and the artist presents their masterpieces. All the attendees along with instructors provide their feedback as 'Glows' and 'Grows' (will discuss it in another article)
How have you used Gallery Walk in your teaching classes, please share thoughts.

5 年Gallery walk can be used in a scrum class to have each table group draw or build a scrum workflow after they had a chance to learn it the first time. They then display their work somewhere in the room and as the class walks over to their display, the group explains the workflow the entire class.
