Galen College of Nursing - Sarasota: Now Open for the Nurses of Tomorrow

Dear Caregivers,

You may have seen in the news for healthcare this week, headlines that contain the words, “Galen College of Nursing” and “HCA Healthcare.” That’s because this week will go down in history as a time when our company and the Galen College of Nursing took two significant strides toward expanding access to quality nursing education in the United States.

The first was our announcement earlier this week that locals of the Blue Ridge Mountains will soon have a brand-new Galen College of Nursing Campus located in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina. Expected to open in late September, this will be the eighth campus that Galen College of Nursing has opened since joining HCA Healthcare in 2020, bringing Galen’s total number of campuses to 13 this fall.

Secondly, here in West Florida, we also were proud to officially open the Galen College of Nursing – Sarasota to the community yesterday as part of a broader effort to expand the Galen footprint here in the Sunshine State. From the moment you step into the classroom setting, you can instantly tell that it was designed with great intentionality. From the mix of interactive classrooms to advanced simulation technology and collaborative learning spaces, the campus was created to encourage hands-on learning that prepares students for the field of nursing.

Yesterday, as Leanne Salazar, our Division Chief Nursing Executive, and I walked around the more than 20,000-square-foot campus and witnessed the impressive design, we thought about what went into constructing this innovative learning space and felt energized from realizing that our next generation of nurses would soon walk in these same rooms. We were both delighted that many of the people attending the grand opening were actual prospective students! Even more exciting is that many of those students will someday become part of our legacy: the future nurses of HCA Healthcare West Florida Division.

We are thrilled to open the doors to this outstanding new campus here in Sarasota because we know that skilled and compassionate nurses are critical to the care and improvement of human life. They are the lifeblood of HCA Healthcare, and we want to do everything we can to ensure that lifeblood continues flowing throughout care settings in Florida and across the nation for years to come.

So, if you know someone in West Florida or beyond who is considering going to nursing school, strongly encourage them to look into one of our Galen College of Nursing campuses, including our new Sarasota campus. Sharing this information just may help a future nurse achieve their dream of making a difference.
