GAIKINDO launched International Commercial Vehicles Expo as Indonesia enjoys great growth

Indonesia - the biggest market for automotive in ASEAN enjoy great growth. According to World Bank report, supportive global environment, coupled with sound domestic fundamentals, has enabled the Indonesian economy to begin 2017 on a strong footing. Fiscal management and credibility has improved, as attested by the recent Standard and Poor’s (S&P) credit rating upgrade, quarterly GDP growth rose from 4.9 percent in the last quarter of 2016 to 5.0 percent in the first quarter of 2017, lifted by a rebound in government consumption and surging exports. More strong indicator including private consumption growth has been robust, supported by a stable Rupiah and muted inflation and investment growth continues to be strong on the back of the ongoing recovery in commodity prices, continued reforms to improve the business environment, lower financing rates, and better business sentiment.

This condition boost commercial sector sharply. Thanks to many infrastructure initiative by Government of Indonesia to make automotive industry also experiences great impact particularly for commercial segment. It make The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industry, GAIKINDO decide to host two, yes two, International level automotive exhibitions for 2018. As usual, there is The annual GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) which will still take place on August next year and from now, as GAIKINDO launching separate exhibition exclusively to accommodate the commercial vehicles industry with the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (GIICOMVEC) 2018, which will take place on 1-4 March, 2018, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta – Indonesia.

Yohannes Nangoi, Chairman of GAIKINDO, explained the objective behind GAIKINDO’s decision to hold an exhibition exclusively for the commercial vehicle industry. “The Indonesian commercial vehicle industry has positive prospects due the ongoing development of infrastructure in Indonesia, improvements in commodity prices and the mining industry. At this moment, GIICOMVEC 2018 is an ideal opportunity to promote the Indonesian commercial vehicle industry,” he said. According to Nangoi, holding GIICOMVEC exhibition at the beginning of 2018 is the preferred time, due there has been significant growth in the commercial vehicle industry compared to last year. 

 Rizwan Alamsjah, GAIKINDO’s chairperson and head of GAIKINDO’s exhibition department said that GAIKINDO exhibitions, GIIAS over the last three years have undoubtedly had a positive impact on the growth of the national automotive industry. On the other hand, GIIAS presents an extensive showcase of the automotive industry, so to focus specifically on the Indonesian commercial vehicle industry GAIKINDO is holding GIICOMVEC as a business to business (B to B) exhibition. As Rizwan puts it, the concept and environment of the GIICOMVEC exhibition will stimulate growth in the Indonesian commercial vehicle industry. “GIICOMVEC will be a great platform for commercial brand holders to present products and technologies to their target audience. Participating companies will present their products and services directly to the attendees,” he explained. Potential buyers will experience a wide range commercial vehicle product types, from trucks, buses and coaches, trailers, caravans, carrosseries, dump and mining trucks, container carries, Bulk Cement trucks, vans, tires, parts and components, accessories and other supporting industries. At its launch in early October 2017, GIICOMVEC 2018 had a positive response from GAIKINDO-member commercial vehicle brand holders, representing prominent brands such as DFSK, Isuzu, Mercedes-Benz Commercial, Mitsubishi Fuso, and Mitsubishi Motors. Rizwan also expressed his expectation regarding GIICOMVEC 2018. “We have high hopes for the first GIICOMVEC. Considering the increased demand for commercial vehicles in Indonesia created by rapid. Infrastructure development, hopefully GIICOMVEC will be a positive stimulus for our commercial-vehicle members and the Indonesian commercial vehicle industry in general,” he said.

With Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2018 also confirmed to be held on 19-29 April 2018, now Indonesia has more auto show than any other country in ASEAN
