APPLICATION OF THE MONTH : 275 ACTUATOR SERIES SUPPORTS WALMART ON A BAUDOUIN SOLUTION

When a Walmart Commercial Center needed repairs to the backup generator, our partners at? Grupo Idimex Oficial IDIMEX upgraded this Baudouin 6M21G390/6, replacing the Fortrust A900 with a GAC ACB275H.? “The customer is happy with the GAC quality.” ?It was a bit more expensive but it was in stock, and easy to install.

PRODUCT OF THE MONTH: ABOUT OUR 275 PUMP MOUNTED ACTUATOR

The 275 Series Electric Actuator , a powerful second-generation actuator, was designed to support Bosch P3000 – P7000 fuel-injected pumps, and is commonly used to directly replace a Fortrust A900.

Coupling the 275 Series with a fuel pump delivers a high-performance fuel control system without external linkages or brackets.

The two isolated chambers in the 275 Series eliminate magnetic particles collecting in the actuator. The 275 Series typically outlasts the life of its host engine and is maintenance-free.

TECH TIP OF THE MONTH: MSPs

If you suspect the magnetic pickup is not functioning properly, measure its resistance by disconnecting the pickup leads and check the sensors with an OHM meter. Refer to engine manufacturer’s specifications for acceptable values.

The output voltage of a magnetic pickup is affected by three factors.

  • Output voltage increases with increases in the surface speed of the flywheel teeth.
  • Voltage decreases as the air gap between themagnetic pickup and the flywheel teeth increases.? The optimum air gap is typically 0.020” to0.025” {0.5 to 0.65mm}
  • The voltage waveform is determined by the size and shape of the gear tooth in relation to the size and shape of the sensors pole piece.

  • Long Standard Model 250 ? max
  • Short Standard Model 220 ? max
  • Standard Metric Models 250 ? max

How To Measure Resistance of an MSP:

  1. Measure between the pickup case and leads with an ohm meter for near infinite resistance.
  2. ?Confirm there are no open circuits, including the wiring harness and all connectors.
  3. Inspect the sensor for mechanical damage andremove any debris that might have accumulated on the pole piece.?
  4. Reset the air gap to 0.020” to 0.025” (0.5 to 0.65mm) and confirm that the sensor outputs a minimum of 1.0 VAC at cranking across the inputs to the speed control.
