I work placing Permanent Senior Projects Personnel for the Chemical Engineering and Renewable industry in the Benelux region.
My main focus is within the Netherlands, where there are abundant interesting and technical opportunities for candidates searching for a fixed-term, permanent position.
It's undeniable that there has been a huge shift in the Engineering industry to make room for the ever-expanding renewable sector, and it's great to see so many companies, specifically in the Netherlands, who are leading the way in trying to improve the current climate. From start-ups/ scale-ups who are creating innovative technology in the Hydrogen, Carbon and Solar industries to those ensuring that they hit their targets for greenhouse gas emissions, as set out by the European Green Deal, which sets out a comprehensive plan to make EU climate neutral by 2050.
With these targets being set, it means that there are a number of opportunities for candidates wanting to be a part of the positive change. From a day-to-day perspective, I notice more and more candidates wishing to work in the renewable energy industry, with most expressing they would like to feel job satisfaction from contributing to a greener Europe.
Within our team at G2, we have seen a rise in CCS projects (Carbon Capture Storage), Green Hydrogen, Solar Projects (PV, FPV), Biofuels and more. The technology used within these projects is complex, but the results are already being witnessed. According to the MIT Climate Portal, Carbon Capture Storage projects are 90% efficient, symbolising that 90% of carbon dioxide from power plants will be captured and stored.
Being experts in our field means that we are able to fully understand the technical requirements that a hiring manager is looking for. A huge part of recruitment for permanent roles is making sure that our candidate is not only a technical match (engineering discipline, project experience, etc.) but also a motivational fit so that we can ensure the candidate stays and develops within the company for years to come.
