I talk and write about the same products and brands all the time because they work.?I believe in quality over quantity, consistency, authenticity and investing in yourself (My 6 F's).?Check out the updated Midlife Male Brand Partners page?HERE?for my recommendations.?Not just for the holidays but for all year long.?
In addition to this newsletter, the place where I spend the most time online is?Instagram.
There you'll get more of the real-time raw stuff. So if you're looking to reframe the conversation around mid-life, that's where I share the things that'll help you see this time in a whole new light so follow me there.?
Alright...Here we go
?????? T?? G???? W?????? Y???? W?????? I?? L?????? (Mid or any other time...)
Start doing it.
Great advice.?That's it??Really??That's your big opening line for Sunday morning.?
Yup.?Seriously. If you don't read any further, just get up right now and start doing what you want to do or that thing that you know you should do and for whatever reason, you haven't been doing it and it's eating away at you.??
Still here??
Get out a pen (or tablet, phone, whatever...)
Write it down. ?
"Here's what I'm going to do".?(Not what I WANT to do...What I'm GOING to do)?
Every step.
Write each one of them down.
Then follow them.
That’s the hard part.
Don’t know what steps to take? Ask for help.
It’s there.
Find it. Seek it. Embrace it.
We make this big deal about change like we have to make some big announcement about it, declare it publicly as if anyone is really looking at us or expecting anything from us.
You don’t have to say anything to anyone. Don’t talk. Just start.
I spent a lot of time doing things because I thought had to, not because I wanted to
Seeking approval, appreciation, love, validation, money.
None of it was authentic.
None of it made me feel better, perform better, earn better or act better.
In fact it was the opposite. I was angry, resentful, narcissistic, unhealthy and whether anyone else knew it…I knew it.
I didn’t like how I looked, how I felt, what I was doing, who I was doing it with and how I was doing it.
So I stopped.
That’s it.
I stopped doing what I didn’t like and started doing what I did.
Simple.
Simple does not mean easy.
Ironically, life can get harder when you try to make it easy.??
Exercising is hard, but not exercising and moving will make your life harder.??
Having that uncomfortable conversation or pacifying/tolerating a poor relationship is hard, but avoiding conflict is even harder.??
Being great at what you do is hard, but not continuing to learn, improve and settling is harder.?
Easy...Has a cost.??

Pay now or pay later.?
I work my ass off. If you want to make change, you'll have to as well.??
The SEAL's have a saying "The only easy day was yesterday".
Mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually change is possible.
No just possible but?highly probable?if you’re willing to put in the work.
The time is always now.
Never too early. Never too late.
Resolve trumps resolution.
Go. Don’t wait until January.
Reach out if you need help ????

One of my favorite episodes of the Podcast.?Dr. Frank Lipman is a functional medicine doctor and the Chief Medical Officer for The Well lifestyle brand. He’s also a bestselling author who has written several books on health and wellness, including? The New Health Rules, The New Rules of Aging Well, How to be Well,?and?Young & Slim for Life. His new book,?Better Sleep, Better You, will be released soon. Dr. Lipman takes a holistic approach to health and believes in developing healthy habits to improve your sleep, control your stress, support your microbiome, and cultivate a sense of community and connection with others.
LIFESTYLE CHOICES?
Make sure that you’re exercising, work on your sleep, deal with your stress, and when it comes to diet, try to eat as close to nature as possible and with as little sugar as possible.??
SLEEP?
Sleep is probably the most underrated lifestyle change we can make. Sleep is when your body recovers and repairs. We have a glymphatic system in the brain that helps clear the toxins or proteins that build up during the day. The problem is that the glymphatic system only works when you sleep. So, if you’re not sleeping, you’re not cleaning out that mess.
LIGHT
One of the best things you can do for your sleep is to get some natural sunlight first thing in the morning. At the same time, you don’t want artificial light before you go to bed because if you have artificial lights on too late, your body doesn’t start producing the sleep hormone melatonin.
MEDITATION?
To me, it’s mind control. I have a very active mind. I often live in my head. So I find mantra meditation incredibly helpful because you just go back to the mantra when your mind starts to drift. And for me, it’s a way of taming my monkey mind.?
SPIRITUALITY?
Spirituality to me is not about going to the synagogue or church, or mosque. Spirituality is about being kind, having gratitude, being able to forgive. There’s an African term called Ubuntu, which means what makes us human is the humanity we show to each other.?

Three Things I'm into...
I wrote at the top of the newsletter about investing in yourself.?Fitness is one of 6F's.?I can't think of a single downside to being fit so this week I'm giving you three of my favorite fitness tools.?These are versatile, affordable and if you owned nothing else besides these three things, you could gain as much fitness as you want.??
1.?Nuo Adjustable Dumbbells?- These are my go to dumbbells. Patented adjustable dumbbells that allow you to select the weights you want simply by turning the handle. Mine go up to 80lbs each so this set is all I need.
2.?Rogue Slam Balls?- Overhead medicine ball slams are great for working the entire body and for releasing some aggression. Carry 'em, throw 'em, squat, press, rotate...It all works.??
3.?TRX Straps?- Premium Suspension Trainers that use your bodyweight to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability. I love these for pretty much every type of movement.??
The brands and partners I truly believe in are on my?midlifemale.com/partners page.?If & when you're gonna buy, this is where I spend my money and have seen results.?I talk and write about the same stuff constantly because it works and because they all fit the three principles above.?I encourage you to support them as well.?
