FYI - For Your Information - 4 Days to the Launch!

I reached the office today, knowing that shabbir Jodhpurwala is crazy right now. Like crazzyyyy. Reason? I dozed off again today! People like me can't fix their sleep schedules because we write LinkedIn articles at this time. Now, was the time to face it and get back to work! I kept searching for shabbir Jodhpurwala the entire office as I enter, but looks like he has disappeared into thin air! Yep, so I directly went to my Hardware Lab, had a long time no see (we just met yesterday) chat with Adil and Adeen Fatima . Crux of the convo: Mental Health - Anime - Manipulation. Finally, Adeen Fatima takes me to shabbir Jodhpurwala , Mr. Not-So-Angry, damn he was right there why couldn't I see him?!

So, I and shabbir Jodhpurwala share a history of disagreeing over stuff - only to build wonders! It's just that, shabbir Jodhpurwala realizes over time who was evidently "right" about stuff, "right" shabbir Jodhpurwala ? (Flutter and Design are my takes on this)

Sat down with my laptop and the blank me. It was 1st May today, and it's been 1 full day since shabbir Jodhpurwala asked me to make the UI changes in FYI - For Your Information ; I take complete pride in the fact that our first functional version was absolutely crappy. And to renew that UI, my braincells had given up on me. I didn't even want to touch the initial pages, so went with the last one. And thank God I did it that way! That day we sat down and completed 2 / 4 pages. PROGRESS! And the moment Meraj Faheem saw them, he said, "Noice!"; it's a tough job to get that "Noice!" in the first go!

Lessons Learnt

After spending hours on studying the psychology behind brand colors, logos, and literally banging our heads over the walls, I realized that the initial brand colors chosen for FYI, just out of my intuition, were the best ones!

Quoting Meraj Faheem :

• Do you guys know 20% of the people who lost jobs at Google were UI designers, whose primary job was deciding colors for CTAs?
• Moral of the story: It’s important, but don’t take them too seriously and waste tons of time on it. Be good and fast now. You can be perfect later.
• What this should tell us is, all the psychology we know, sciences we derive are in the hindsight. And it’s easier to connect the dots that way but they mean nothing.

FYI - For Your Information - 3 Days to the Launch!

Just few seconds, and arrived the 2nd May. Went to the office, and yep woke up late again, and now we know why. Rushed to the office, couldn't find a single auto, Arma Sahar I need Unicorn ASAP. The best part, I am gaining the bargaining skills I used to absolutely suck at; the worst part, I can't afford to lose more of my time waiting for the autos! Finally got one!

WAIT. FF! YES FF! Just 3 days to go! Shakeela Nazeer and I quickly start working on the placards. Believe me, we made the crappiest designs, and then showed them to Meraj Faheem . Damn the patience this guy has; I was myself laughing at the designs before showing it to him.

Now comes in the toughest page of FYI - For Your Information , and that is the page where we "add FYIs", I had the design in place, but how to code it? Yeps, you guessed it, what's shabbir Jodhpurwala for then? Explained him everything about the page, and yep it was time to head back to home. Nah, not yet! Osaid Sharif ! We were supposed to have a meeting! Had one with MOHAMMED OBAID ULLA KHAN , so I had to have one with Osaid Sharif before I left! Ah, imagine Simrah Munaza Ikram and Osaid Sharif having a cool and calm meeting. Nah - boring! It's full of energy, craziness, and the rest is exclusive for those who witness them. We need wise people like Khaleel Aziz Ahmed to keep us in check! Thanks Hamdaan (my brother) for calling me, else who knows how long the meeting would be! Right Osaid Sharif ? Or is it Maaz Ahmed Khan who was the semicolon to the meeting?

FYI - For Your Information - 2 Days to the Launch!

It's 3rd May now! It's time to disclose the launch! But wait, who's pitching this Founders' Friday ? shabbir Jodhpurwala says all five! Meraj Faheem reminds, "Vyaapar karte samay daya mat karo, Seva karte samay vyaapar mat karo!" FYI, vyaapar means business. All our braincells on the treadmill, and Meraj Faheem says:

Wait, whhhhaattttt?????

Until then I was this cool Simrah Munaza Ikram telling everyone in the team, we don't need a script, just a few pointers and we will be done! Where is she now? The calm Simrah Munaza Ikram is wanted, if you find her, please ping in the comments; I might sleep after spending a very long night, no sleep :)

So today I get a call from shabbir Jodhpurwala asking me to come really fast cause he has the page ready! WOW! Had some noodles, biscuits (just waiting for the launch of Forever Cookie to replace 'em), and a cup of coffee, after a really long time! Grabbed an auto, on the way to change the world for better! I reached the office, and obviously had to meet Amtul Baseer Ifra ( HUDN , her launch date?), damn we had Arma Sahar and Syeda Saniyya as well! Cool CEOs to be around! Did I just miss Zainab Khatoon ? Stay tuned to Dovely - Women Bike Riding Service !

3, 2, 1, and I saw the page! It was so beautiful! Obviously, some tweaks, but what a wholesome moment! I couldn't even wait for the changes to be done. Rushed towards the CEO, Meraj Faheem (insert exclamations and CAPS!) look at it! He typed in his FYI, the UX was so simple!

Before proceeding, a little back story here. Lights. Camera. Design. It was during the Hacktober Fest, that I became the unofficial designer of HacktoByte, and since then there was no turning back. And I'm thankful to God, that I continued to become one, because of the practical learnings! Design has always been that part of my story where I never took a session, nor watched a tutorial. It was only via Practice. Try. Fail. Iterate. method that I got into design!

Bahauddin A. was the first person who took the efforts into teaching me some basic principles of design, cause all I did during my first post at the internship was to replace the text in the template, and gosh I had the muscle to call it a design! After my internship, it was Abhishek Indupally who very patiently used to write paragraphs on how the design is still not "the design". Once I joined EdVenture Park , very fortunate enough that it has been Meraj Faheem - The Design Guy! It is his head that I eat Nights & Weekends (ref. buildspace ), to get my designs reviewed every now and then. And when I tell him, "Aapko pareshaan karne phir se aa gayi Meraj Faheem main." He says, "Pareshaan karre, matlab kaam karre." And Ilyas Shah Khan , he is the alignment guy here! His eyes can detect the spaces that even autocorrect can't detect!

Speaking of eyes, a really interesting incident today! I showed the app to Meraj Faheem , and he said that it's already Roboto, so let's make it Roboto Condensed! How in the heavens did he know it just by looking at it?! What's going on here? And a very beautiful quote he told while explaining the psychology behind choosing this particular font,

"Every character has a font, and every font has a character." - Meraj Faheem

Lemme not even mention the number of iterations FYI - For Your Information went through just between me and shabbir Jodhpurwala , let alone Meraj Faheem .

Nannu is Back!

Just 2 days for the launch and not inviting Nannu? Gave her a call and directly went to her home from the office at Code For India Foundation .

Not only was she super happy and proud about it but was also inviting others to attend it! She literally invited her childhood friend for it! DAMN, her voice records! Not lying, but sometimes I honestly feel that Mama (my mom) and Nannu (my nani) deserved to be at EdVenture Park more than me! I am doing nothing, they would have owned it up like craazzyyy, and this drives me to do more. Because, "The more you do, the more you do." - Meraj Faheem
