Overview:

The National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) conducts research and studies on global environmental conservation, pollution prevention, protection and preservation of the natural environment, and other environmental conservation issues in various fields, including climate change, material cycling, biodiversity, health and environmental risk, regional symbiosis, social systems, adaptation, and disaster environment.

It has a long history, established in March 1974 as a national research institute for pollution control research, and celebrating its 50th anniversary on March 15, 2024.

To commemorate this occasion, this open symposium, entitled “Trajectory and Prospects of the NIES: Pollution, Environment, and ...” will review the roles and contributions of the NIES, including its activities over the past 50 years and its efforts to address environmental issues for the future.

Following the open symposium, the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony will be held.?
