FX Markets - A Brief Assessment
TRADE WAR : Taking into account human rights, Donald Trump will be forced to sign the Hong Kong bill. A deterioration of the bilateral relationship would be the consequence, meaning that an escalation of the trade conflict could possibly be imminent. The Hong Kong bill is of considerable strategic significance as it affects both the partial deal and Donald Trump's election campaign. To my mind, the US President's credibility is at stake.
BREXIT : Polls are the focus of attention, i.e. the UK's economic downturn remains, at least for the time being, of secondary importance. Even though, from a fundamental point of view, the alarm bells have long since begun to ring, the forthcoming general election remains the key issue. Based on the assumption of a substantial election victory for the Conservative Party, I consider the rather undervalued pound sterling to be generally attractive. The Labour Party has been lacking positive momentum for weeks.
