A Futuristic Xiaomi Rests on a Pedestal.

I am sure many of us are wondering what I want to say. How can a mobile/cell phone manufacturer rest on a pedestal?

But even I was surprised when I came across the news article.

Yes,

Xiaomi is no longer only a mobile/cell manufacturer.

From its beginnings as a scrappy startup to becoming an electronics behemoth renowned for its smartphones, the company has now realized its 2021 vision of becoming an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer.

With Over 4,400 engineers and technical experts, as well as 10-billion-yuan (approx. $1.38 billion / Rs. 140 Crore) worth of research and development, they were able to roll out their 1st EV.

SU-7

Let us see, what SU stands for its SUPER ULTRA.?

The Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicle boasts an eye-catching design that merges aesthetics with functionality.

Here are the key design features:

Sleek Exterior: The SU7 exhibits a McLaren-inspired front design, giving it a distinctive and sporty appearance.

Aerodynamic Excellence: Xiaomi has prioritized aerodynamics, achieving a remarkable drag coefficient of only 0.195 Cd—the lowest among production vehicles.

Futuristic Cockpit: Inside, the SU7 offers a futuristic cockpit with multiple screens and high-tech features.

Hyper OS Integration: The SU7 runs on Xiaomi’s Hyper OS, which seamlessly connects with the company’s other devices like phones and tablets.

This integration facilitates real-time coordination, driving advancements, and collaboration with industry partners2.

Core EV Technologies: Xiaomi has developed five core EV technologies for the SU7:

E-Motor: Efficient electric motor technology.

CTB Integrated Battery: Advanced battery integration.

Xiaomi Die-Casting: Precision die-casting techniques.

Smart Cabin: Enhanced interior comfort and connectivity3.

As of now, on sale in China only at Rs 25 lacs (approx)
This was all about the car or Xiaomi, but there are 2 hidden key takeaways.

1st

Tesla would further be facing the heat. The Chinese market is becoming tougher day by day with 'local for vocal' support from their govt.

Opening of Indian Market for Tesla has become a must, with homegrown Chinese competition which is eating away at Tesla's handsome profits.

Tesla is expected to continue facing challenges in China, therefore -the Sooner the better - Tesla in India.

2nd

The electric vehicle (EV) market in India is still in its infancy compared to the US or China. Indian car manufacturers need to gear up before Tesla or any of the domestic Chinese players enter the market at full scale.

Now, the thing to be seen is "if Xiaomi rolls out its SU-7" outside China. If yes, then when.
