Futurescapes 2024: More Than Just a Stand
A note from George Davies:
Business is not?just about all?the boring?stuff. We spend a huge amount of time working?from?dawn till?dusk to keep everything on track,?and when?opportunities arise to add some magic dust???,?then?take it with both hands…
The GDT Experience at Futurescapes 2024: More Than Just a Stand
Over 12 months ago, we redefined our mission?of?“going above and beyond for the?landscaping?industry”.?As a business, this is still at our core. But now, every?decision we make is determined?by?whether the outcome does or does not align with?that?mission.?For example,?the acquisition of the stone business in the spring of this year will?provide?our landscapers with a full range of landscaping products,?coupled with our industry-leading?service?levels.?
So,?why do I mention Futurescapes 2024??Shows are expensive,?taking?a huge amount of time and financial investment,?and in my mind,?you either give it your all or?don’t?bother!?We certainly aligned ourselves with our?mission and gave the show everything we had.?Our?stand was completely refurbished, the graphics were updated, the giveaways were enhanced, the team?knew precisely?how to conduct themselves and?to?be present at all times, and we added some ‘fun’ to the stand,?too.
?
A?while ago,?I?decided to go above and beyond,?so I booked the best close-up?magician I could find. Andy Jamieson works with the likes of Saracens and Northampton Saints,?entertaining their corporate hospitality guests regularly?–?and?boy,?did he entertain!
We had around 170?visitors?play “spin the wheel”,?and each and every?one of those was mesmerised, let alone the passers-by who were stopped in the?aisles and entertained?– the show organisers kept coming back,?bringing the whole team across,?and other stands were doing the same.
The?buzz we?created over the?two?days was electric! In a time of uncertainty?(and with the weather not always playing ball at present),?we certainly felt we played our part in making the show a great success?for?everyone we met?and made sure everyone left with a smile on their face?(as well as being confused???).
?
For those of you who came down, many thanks?for making the effort to do so.?We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you. To?all our winners,?especially?our main prizes,?we hope you find them useful.?
What's happening at GDT?
We’re?excited?to introduce our youngest-ever recruit,?Jack Biddle.
At?18 years old,?Jack?brings youth, energy, excitement and a keen willingness to learn. He will assist in the yard at Olney,?and I have every faith you will be in safe hands?with Jack.?He has already shown he is a?great?team player,?and I am delighted to have him onboard.?

Did you know you can view our stone products in Olney?
In the last few weeks, we’ve recently built a small?display at our?Olney?depot?showcasing the range of stone products we offer. When you are next in the yard, please take a look and ask either Joanna or Jack for more details.?
This smaller display is ideal whilst?we revamp the?St Albans?branch.?
We have pressed the button?and?will be ripping?up the?old?stone?display?and?replacing it with a?new layout?by Christmas.?This new display will become a hub for?landscapers to send their clients, where they can be inspired by the choice of stone?products?and see them laid out in situ.
Here is a picture of the current one,?and we will keep you updated?on?its progress.
