As you may have noticed, it’s been a while since the last edition of Future You - there are two reasons for this.
Firstly, this is the second year I have decided to pause publishing in January. To push back against the pressure to hit the ground running and take a more considered approach, easing into the year. There are few opportunities for reflection as valuable as a New Year, and I can highly recommend giving this sacred time the space and attention it deserves.
Which brings me to the real news…Future You has a new home !
New Year, New Future You?
Future You started as a creative experimentation coinciding with the launch of LinkedIn’s creator and newsletter features back in August 2022. A fine first foray into the world of newsletters, it’s now time for the next evolution.?
After many months of thinking about it, I have taken the leap and launched on Substack . My rationale being:
1. Connection
One of the biggest reasons I create and share Future You is for connection. Sure, I want to share thoughts and suggestions that have helped me and that I hope will add value to others. But, ultimately, I also want to connect with my readers and create a community of like-minded souls. Where LinkedIn (and social media in general) can often feel like shouting into the void, I hope that Substack will be a two-way conversation.?

2. Creativity
Fun fact: in a past life (i.e. 10 years ago) I used to be a travel writer. While I love writing about growth and self-development, I’d like to write on a broader range of topics, without feeling restricted by what I think is relevant for LinkedIn. Expect to read more from me across the three pillars of growth, creativity (ideas, innovation, inspiration) and culture (art, fashion, food, travel and trends) - yes that includes coffee!
3. Community
Not everyone has an account or is an active user of LinkedIn. I want to ensure that anyone who wants to read my work can - plus this will save me forwarding it to my Dad each month! Most importantly, I want to build a community with my readers and currently, Substack offers more features that support that.?
All this to say, I am so grateful to each one of you who has supported me on this journey so far, and, in the spirit of always evolving, would love it if you would join me on Substack to read this month’s Future You .?
Here’s to you and I, but better.
