Future of Work and Office

The biggest problem these days related to working-from-office is that meetings are still being held on TEAMS most of the time. There are still people working from home and in many cases, people are in different countries so the TEAMS meetings are the best means.?

AND this creates an interesting situation in the office where people in their seats are participating in TEAMS meetings. The meetings have moved from the traditional meeting room to individual desks ... and there lies the problem. People are speaking (loudly at times) and when multiple people are attending different meetings from their desk, you have all of them talking (some of them loudly) at the same time while you are trying hard to focus and concentrate on your work .. or worse, trying to listen in and participate in your own TEAMS meeting.?

Offices were not designed for this. They have not been modified for this. Will we need to move into office spaces transforming into a series of small phone-booth style enclosed and sound-proof cubicles to enable this virtual meeting requirement to continue? (Because online meetings are here to stay, they are not going away in most workplaces).?

Back to Office is good but it will come with its challenges.?

I am not even touching here the comfort and convenience of working from home that a lot of people have enjoyed and would like that to continue and NOT being able to provide will mean that organizations will lose that individual because individuals will start to look out for jobs where they will have the WFM flexibility. And there will be people who are dying to return to office. And the rest in between who want to come back to office but want the flexibility of WFH at times when they are needed at home or want to stay at home. With the entire mix above, the workforce might not entirely be in office at all times and hence the online meeting is here to stay. Hybrid is what will happen in many cases, where a bunch of members in office come into a meeting room and connect to their other colleagues online who are at home.?

Future of workplace and WFH is evolving and organizations will have to adapt .. and individuals too will have to adapt to the changing paradigms of working.?

Managers will face a huge challenge in adjusting to these varied working styles and managing teams which are distributed and expect different teams.?
