The 'future'? of work is now and here!

The 'future' of work is now and here!

Have you ever wondered what the future holds for us?

Well, I don't know if there would be flying cars or time travel, or robots ruling the world. However, as William E holler says "What the future holds for us, depends on what we hold for the future"; the future of workspaces would be similar to what's increasingly trending these days. Especially, coming from the digital marketing world, I believe we are living in very exciting times.

There is a lot to learn, unlearn and explore. Fasten your seatbelt as we take off into the future!

The image is based on a yellow backdrop and shares the prediction of workplaces in future. It asks a few questions on how the present changes will affect future work places.

In my view, the future for work would be a place where -

#1. Creators will rule

With the advent of the digital space and social media platforms, more and more people have been creating. Yet, the ratio of those creating content is less as compared to those consuming it. This is simply because being a creator is difficult & those who take the risk of creating shall reap the benefits of it.??

#2. Collaboration> Competition

While competition is a healthy thing,?it may hold us back from attaining our greatest potential. Collaboration helps to cut out the unnecessary "every person for themselves" culture and create a sort of win-win situation. Collaborating brings creators together, helps to channel their creative energies and produces fine results.?

#3. Skills > Education degree.

The future of work would not be just attaining a college degree, but rather acquiring skills. Better skills translate to a better and enhanced quality of work produced. Recruiters even today, prefer candidates who have a varied skill set instead of bookish knowledge.

#4 WFH+WFO = New work culture

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way in which offices work around the globe. While WFH sounds feasible, it is not always optimal. In the future, more and more workplaces may be seen embracing the hybrid model of work instead. This is because, the hybrid way of working is cost-effective, and maximises productivity, efficiency, and output.

#5 Mental health will take the centre stage

Mental health is no longer a taboo. With the increase in the conversation about mental health at the workplace; employers today, have started responding to it with initiatives such as mental health days, enhanced counselling sessions for employees etc. The future will see a more inclusive and positive workplace environment?

#6 Metaverse and WEB 3.0 - The game changers

Metaverse and Web3.0 are here to revolutionise the way we advertise, create content, etc. It is predicted that with the improvement in data transparency via the blockchain-powered Web3.0?and immersive media; brands, creators, and advertisers can directly connect to their consumers.?It is going to be a huge learning.

?#7 Vernacular languages for the win

With more and more apps and platforms stressing on enhancing their reach and targeting content towards the masses, in a matter of time vernaculars will become as important as any other language. Infact the success of apps like Stage by Vinay Singhal is a proof that no 'niche' is niche enough for weighing success. If your idea connects the dots, go for it!

#8 Entrepreneurship - the ageless profession?

What is the right time to start a business? Today entrepreneurship isn’t bound by age. Whether you are 16 or 60, age isn’t a barrier. All you need is the spirit of curiosity to try something new. Despite the lockdown, there was a surge in entrepreneurship, an obvious indicator that the entrepreneurial spirit is here to stay.?

What do you think would the workplace look like in future?

Definitely Lots of change and for the better I must add. I agree with you on the balance between the hybrid work and the new age GenZ entrepreneurs. Only time will tell and we are very optimistic for the future. Thank you Riddhi for sharing your thoughts.
