Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are regarded as the backbone of the Dubai economy, accounting for roughly 90% of all firms, contributing about 43% of the total workforce and slightly above 40% of Dubai's economy and GDP. There are an estimated 230,000 SMEs in the UAE, with half of them being startups.

Despite the fact that Dubai's SME sector is growing at a moderate pace, rising operating costs (including high commercial property leasing costs, salary inflation, and property maintenance costs) have begun to urge numerous aspiring small businesses to seek more cost-effective alternatives.
