The Future of Wellness: What’s Trending?
Combining FemTech & Your Wellness Journey
?
Happy Autumn!
?
This year’s hormonal and global wellness trend lists are coming to the forefront! As we move forward into (almost) the last quarter of the year, one of the emerging trends that caught my eye is:?Menopausal women are becoming more comfortable in their own skin. My takeaway? The awareness and messages we’re putting out there are?working, and women are beginning to?embrace the changes?of menopause while seeking out the?care?and?help?they need.?
And then, there’s the fact that fitness wearables, telehealth apps, at-home testing, and other tech-related devices are truly?cementing their spot?in the world of health and well-being. But this one trend doesn’t come without a few downsides…
Yes, FemTech and wearable technology are?wonderful. I could go on and on about the advantages and how this has opened a?world of tools?and?resources?for those that may not have had access before (and in the past, we’ve done a few?deep dives?into this arena).
But… (Isn’t there always a “but”?)...
There are still blindspots here.
You can have all the resources, at-home testing, digital devices, and apps you could ever want, but if the?correct?interpretation?and understanding of these tools aren’t gained, you won’t be able to harness that?integrative approach?or identify evidence-based tools to address the?mind,?body, and?spirit, taking your health and your life to the?next level.
For instance, an at-home testing kit could tell you the data regarding?specific?hormone levels. Yet, if we don’t have the?context?of how this hormone impacts the body and its systems and if we don’t know what other interactions in the body it might have (Does it impact other hormones?), then we might not know exactly what to do with this data. We could end up?going down the wrong path,?digging a deeper hole?as opposed to climbing our way out.
On top of this, overdoing it on the tech front can even?harm?as?opposed to help. It can lead to confusion and an overflow of information, more than you might know what to do with.?
Luckily, the?integrative?approach?brings the right experts and doctors like myself, into the mix, helping give you the?guidance?you, ultimately, need to?achieve your health and life goals.?
In other good news… Some more prominent?emerging health trends?include the fact that these wearables are?helping to close the gender gap?when it comes to research leading to optimal healthcare. We have?more information than ever?before when it comes to issues affecting women (like infertility, menopause, and endometriosis). This is, undeniably, important, since, in the past (and recent present), underfunding has been a big problem for obtaining the data we need to make better healthcare decisions for women’s health. Now, we can take this data and connect the dots, make correlations, and, most notably,?improve overall care for women’s needs?and concerns.
And like I said, the “problem” with wearables and other technology-driven healthcare devices is the?interpretation?and?understanding of the data. Luckily, another healthcare trend is beginning to bridge this gap; Certified health and wellness coaches are becoming an integral part of the wellness journey.?
More and more coaches are becoming the “missing link” between physicians and patients. After all, many health improvements?require lifestyle and behavioral changes, all of which the right coach can help with. This is fueling our growth in the health and wellness realm, enhancing our longevity tools, and truly?creating the holistic and integrative approach women have been needing.?
In light of these new trends, I think I can safely say: We’re getting there! Yet, you might wonder, “Okay, Dr. LaReesa, but where is ‘there’ exactly?” I think we can all agree that “there” isn’t an exact end destination, rather it’s the continual improvement and ability to pivot health care for?individual needs?and constantly aim for achieving a?unique approach?for each person, depending on their specific situation, sex, fitness, health, and more. It’s the idea that women and men are?different, specifically when it comes to their health and wellness needs. While we’ve always known we’re different, only recently are we?actually doing something about it?and leading the way toward providing?women-oriented care?and guidance.?
I’m excited! We should all be excited! This is cutting-edge. This is the next frontier. We’re stepping?forward?into a world of healthcare that hasn’t existed before. And as women, we can take advantage of this new approach,?getting to the root of our problems?and living a long, happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.

Women drive human existence, to put it bluntly. We are?integral?to the human race.
Heal Women… Heal the World. Heal communities.??
Heal lifespans. Boost longevity. And we begin to heal the?bigger issues?impacting people across the globe.?
Psst… It’s?Gyn Cancer and Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. Consider scheduling your preventative exams. Or consider starting a movement on your social media platforms to raise awareness and funds. Ovarian cancer?causes more deaths?than any other female reproductive cancer and is the?second most common Gyn cancer. This is something worth bringing attention to!
