The Future of War
The Looming War between Russia & Ukraine Is Another Reminder That We’re Doing It All Wrong
I'm going to say this very bluntly and up front - in this stand-off between Russia and the Ukraine there will only be losers. No winners at all.
We've been doing this war thing over and over for thousands of years. Fighting with our fists, arrows, swords, guns, tanks, and today threatening to use weapons of mass destruction (see the clip below). I think we all understand that there will be no winners in the next great confrontation.
Fighting The Wrong War
It's 2022, we're the most sophisticated generation to ever inhabit the Earth, and we don't even realize yet that we're fighting on the wrong battlefield.
All this bloodshed throughout the ages was leading up to our time when the great transition would begin - it starts with us.
In the new "war" we're entering, there's only winners. But there's a catch - we can only all win together.
In the new "war" we're entering, there's only winners. But there's a catch - we can only all win together.
Now we have a really big challenge ahead of us, because it's so easy to hate and want to destroy a huge target that we can point a finger at. All these external wars were only preparation for the real war - the war inside of us. The war against our ego.
The Engine of All Human Development
The ego causes all of our wars, but it is not an enemy. If we use it right, by connecting to each other above our egos, we will learn how nature operates.
We've just identified a common enemy to every single human on this planet. At the end of the day, no matter who we are or where we're from, we all want the same things in life - we all want to be happy. There are certain preconditions to that such as peace and stability in the world. How can we achieve it?
Throughout history, there has rarely been any reason for war other than egoism. Dressed as the pursuit of honor, wealth, or dominance, the ego has always been the primary cause of war. Egoism is a uniquely human trait. All other creatures fight for survival, don't care about social status or have a desire to deliberately harm others. Animals have no sense of history, no pride to cater to, and never take more than they need to survive. Us humans are different. Envy is what causes us to compete with others for power and respect, which makes us feel constantly dissatisfied. As long as we are "servants" of our envy of others, we are doomed to dissatisfaction, frustration, competition, and worst of all—to hatred of others, which leads to war.
Yet the ego also pushes us to develop. Look around at our world today - the ego has given us many great things, and if we learn to use our ego correctly we can have far more. Clearly up until now, we have been lacking a way to balance our self-interest with the interest of the environment, and that is how our world became unsustainable. Now we have an opportunity to create this balance?by ourselves. The further along we get on this journey the more we'll understand that the ego is not our enemy; it was the substance keeping us apart so we would learn to connect correctly. Taming our egos to get along is the key to maintaining a balanced and peaceful society. And reaching our full human potential as well - we'll only get there by connecting in the most optimal way.
Masters of Our Destiny
We like to think we're in control. But before we become the masters of our destiny, we need to master our own nature. Once we have mastered how to use our ego for its true purpose, we will be able to develop our species favorably for ourselves and for posterity.
One day we'll look back at 2022 and won't believe how primitive we were to think we could accomplish anything with brute force. How old fashioned we are! Fighting like our ancestors have done for centuries. Now stop for a moment and think how many things in our lives perpetuate this concept of protecting ourselves from our external enemies - all the violent movies & video games. It's all designed to distract us from fighting the real war - the war against our own ego. As I mentioned at the beginning this is impossible to do on our own - we can only do it together.
