The future is touchfree
I’ve been talking for a while about how and why access control is the way to create a safer, touchfree environment - but now I can share a fantastic example with you.
Abloy UK worked with RSPL on a solution to help mitigate the risk of infection at its Dublin premises by using a mix of automated access control technologies.
RSPL remained open throughout the lockdown so it could continue supplying products to hospitals, pharmacies, supermarkets and other key areas, but it recognised an urgent need for new safety measures to protect customers and staff.
We supplied automatic door operators to give visitors touchfree access and egress. The specification also links with the building’s access control and door entry system so staff and visitors can access the building and collect their supplies safely.
The automated doors work in conjunction with face recognition technology, temperature screening cameras, a visitor density control system, and ‘no-touch’ door releases. All of this technology combines to give visitors to the premises the safest experience possible.
The compliant system includes the Abloy DA460 swing door operator, complete with DA147 push arm and DA103 mounting plate. To achieve automation these are supplemented by the EL520 motor lock, EA420 lock controller, EA280 door loop, CY326-VL single cylinder and 60-0119-SSS lever handles.
Automated access control has existed for a long time, but it’s understandably never been more important or in demand. I believe touchfree solutions like this will undoubtedly be in demand as we all seek to find a safe and secure ‘new normal’.
I’m particularly proud of this project as I believe we’ve got a responsibility to not only keep people safe, but to also set the standard and showcase best practice in the sector.
Door automation is a simple measure that businesses can introduce to help protect their customers and employees, and anything that helps a company continue its operations while reducing the risk of infection is welcome.
Do you think you’ll see a similar solution in your workplace soon?
