The future of technology is human-centred, and we need more women in science and technology at the forefront of this revolution.

In my work, I’ve always believed in the power of technology to enhance human life.

I would like to think that as a recent PhD candidate, I did not just keep up with the pace of technology but offered a new and valuable perspective for its exploration and evaluation.

Through my PhD, I’ve also gained a new perspective on just how essential it is for women in science and technology to step into these spaces. This is crucial for designing technologies that work for everyone, not just a select few.

?? Why is this so important? Because the next generation of interfaces will define how we live, work, and connect with one another. This requires a diversity of specialists who understand the nuanced relationship between people and technology.

- The future is not just about more advanced AI or smarter systems, it's about designing technology that truly understands and serves its users.

- That is why it's more critical than ever to ensure that diverse perspectives are shaping the interfaces and interactions of tomorrow.

I had the most incredible PhD journey and masterclass in interdisciplinary research.

I was fortunate enough to publish in Nature Portfolio and Nature Medicine on a collaborative learning strategy and new methods to help validate technology-enabled clinical interactions. I want to ensure that as our tools evolve, they do so in a way that enhances human life, rather than complicating it.

I learned from giants in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and Clinical Informatics. I would like to thank my supervisors, Yvonne Rogers and Neil Sebire for their unwavering support and inspiration. I consider my viva day as a highlight of my doctoral journey and thank Ivana Drobnjak and Paul Dimitri for that experience.

I am proud to be part of this journey, and I encourage more people to join in leading the way toward a future where technology truly serves us all.

To my network, especially all the women in science and technology considering a PhD in Computer Science or HCI, please do reach out if you would like to talk through an experience of pursuing interdisciplinary research across HCI and Healthcare.
