I often wonder what the future of recruitment will be like.
I don't buy into the typical b*****ks on social media predicting the death of the recruitment industry. In fact, I actually feel sorry for anyone advocating the death of this industry at the hands of technology because they simply don't get it.
Technology allows you to scale the unscalable. It lets you bring more value to your customers. It is still built on actual human relationships. That's it. It will never replace the role of a recruiter in the process. That is, until such times as IBM Watson can understand intuition and EQ.
Whatever way you look at it, however, recruitment is still sales. Sales professionals now need to figure out how to bring more value to customers by using technology (social media in particular).
I also firmly believe, that the future of recruitment will require a very different set of skills than the recruitment of today. The future of recruitment will demand that every recruiter will have to think and act like a true Digital Marketer.
Every recruitment agency across the world (if they want to win) will have to act more like a media company that does recruitment than a recruitment agency that dabbles in social media.
