Let's talk today about the future potential side effects of mass adopting AI as a human race.

Whenever I login to Linkedin, 6 out of 10 posts are related to AI, 8 out of 10 Linkedin audio events crib/discuss the panic & suffering inflicted by AI, 4 out 10 newsletters educate me on AI. So, writing on AI catches virality like forest fire because everybody is interested either by fear, by greed or by excitement.

Fundamentally AI is disruptive in nature. It is being trained by “WE – THE HUMANS” to get the mundane tasks done as phase 1 & we will further train AI to get our mundane tasks done faster & with more sophistication through our inputs. ?As phase 2, we will roll out AI to do extreme complex tasks & it will get better than humans who trained it. As phase 3 - it’s still a theory as of now where AI starts thinking & feeling like humans & become superior than humans. It will be no wonder that AI could replicate AI, AI could learn itself without human intervention and invent machine or AI consciousness, the world will be different place to live, totally unimaginable today. I don’t know how soon but this will be our future of humanity for sure, hope it turns out good for all of us. Neo of the Matrix, please stay alive to save humanity!

When social media platforms started rising, we thought it was fun to connect but in almost 2 decades the social media space has captured the humanity’s attention, so it will be of no surprise tomorrow that AI based tech will hack the way our mind works because there are vast number of humanity’s digital footprints already available + scientists & techies are training AI day in day out + we – the users of?AI are training Ai with prompts.

Let’s begin with potential side effects

Unfairness in schools with the use of chat-gpt :?

Students who use chatgpt to write their essays v/s students who use logic & imagination to write essays which is unfair to those folks who did not use chatgpt in terms of time, efforts & energy put into task.

Secondly, some schools have allowed chatgpt to use & train students on practical & critical thinking whereas majority of schools ban the use of chat-gpt. So there is disparity in the exposure to tech & AI here, so the labour market will provide both cohorts job opportunities on unequal basis on their relevant skills, critical thinking & merit.

The rise of AI based crimes:

Voice cloning where criminals use notorious tactics & call people to blackmail about their loved ones being kidnapped & use money extortion tactics. We have seen just voice, we will see videos also of our loved ones screaming, crying & so then what we will do in that moment??What if tomorrow AI is able to call from your mobile devices with your mobile no then what will you do?

This was the case of kidnap; this can be further extrapolated using AI to murder people on contracts then we will have new set of underworld & mafia. What if, AI machines are trained on bank robberies, pick pocketing, hacking your emails, bank websites & apps, social media accounts, your mobile apps, your medical history, your govt id proofs, your financial investments & so on. It’s very much possible in future when AI gains AI consciousness or is trained on criminal acts & is able to surpass human laws.

The rise of beast capitalism & capitalism led autocracy:

The purpose of any business is continuously rising profits & rising stock prices if listed on exchanges. Management consultants helped organizations to restructure companies & fire employees so as to improve investor sentiment. AI can become the remote button for capitalists.?So, a capitalist wants to fire employees without the loss of business productivity, just train AI for the volume of tasks to be done. And this destroy middle class who are mostly employed in jobs mostly. And this level of activities will activate neo -liberalism where the voice of middle class will be lost completely & they will become gradually poor. So, we will have the hyper activated crony capitalism with extreme polarities of either being rich or poor. And this will be the rise of new capitalism led autocracy destroying democracy gradually.??Let’s define the new version of pseudo democracy here: Govt of the people & not for the people & not by the people, scary, isn’t it?

The new structures of mass human influence:

With generative AI, we use natural language processing to its best & then play with text, voice & images thereby decode & convert inputs to outputs. We are then able to produce series of articles, images & as a use case further, we can convert text to speech, speech to text, text to video, video to text and so on. So, if we extrapolate this tech with specific context, AI can well produce laws for the country, write complex codes for the softwares, write novels & research papers, compose music & multiple use cases. ?What if AI can be trained on religious texts, then AI can amplify few or certain religions worldwide or even create new religions that will change the way we live our lives because religion is the operating system of our beliefs. And what if our old religious sacred texts, arts, scriptures, religious place of worship gets destroyed by the vested partnership of AI & few dominating humans? And what if AI hypnotizes humanity & destroys religion as a concept & brings something else altogether?

Secondly, we are seeing AI based news anchors as of now in mainstream & online media, what if tomorrow we have AI based managing editor/editor in chief disseminating news in the public, so this will influence the public in a totally different way, what kind of narratives we would be riding on, what will be the intentions behind it?

Thirdly for any state & national elections, we could easily train AI to produce fake content at scale. With or without the knowledge of social media platforms/search engines/digital publishers, AI can act as transmission agents of sharing users’ private data with third parties having politically vested interests. With such possibilities, AI have that potentiality to threaten democratic structures.

Dominate humanity with social intimacy & AI dream: ?

As per Google, there are 5.16 billion users on internet worldwide in January 2023 which is 64% of global population worldwide. Now in just decade, social media platforms captured humanity’s attention worldwide through different use cases. Its very possible that AI will change the focal point of society from attention to intimacy. Till date we human beings fell in love with human beings of either same or opposite sex. AI powered robots will woo you to a point that you get emotionally connected & attached to them & are ready to dump your human partner. We will see our partners snatched away by robots & we won’t be able to do anything, we will have heartbreaks at scale never seen in humanity before.

Humanity invented society as a concept which forces human beings to progress in a certain kind of boxes from infancy to death. As per Shamans & other civilizations, society has shared dream & humans are obliged to live their part in the shared dream. As AI gets so well trained that it will be able to hypnotize humanity to a point that it edits the shared dream to a new upgraded dream. Humans will be then obliged to live their part in the upgraded dream.

If we humans don’t fit in here & oppose collectively of the shared ideology/dream, AI has the potential to wipe out human race or it could enslave humanity, or it will replace humanity to some kind of hybrid animals mated with robots or collectively we will have to escape to other planet Mars or some other place.

The role of human identifiers:

The role of human identifiers will play a peak role whether the person on the other end is actual human or not in online, offline, metaverse, web3 or future technologies. ?As humanity, we will be in constant doubt whom we are with. Just like the movie matrix, we may have Matrix powered Mr. Anderson who can clone itself in multiples and even changing the appearance & gender based on situation.

To prevent this kind of situation, today all countries should collab with each other irrespective of differences & should pass the AI based legislation as quickly as possible. Although this may stifle innovation, but there is no option left seeing the rapid progress of AI. ?AI should be treated as pharma industry where any AI based product which is rolled out in a market should be tried & tested completely & which is totally safe for humanity. These AI products should be hard bounded by legalities.

The unstable equation of AI, Aliens & Humanity:

There is a lot of debate of alien intervention on planet earth. Some say that they have base on planet earth & are very much intelligent & way much progressive than humans. So, with the advancement of AI & AI surpassing humans in future, will aliens attack us or collab with us? As humanity, can we find a diplomacy-based solution that saves planet earth? As humanity are we doomed to see Armageddon? Will be slaves to AI & then aliens? Only time & our future great grandkids can answer these questions…

AI will impact humanity with a lot of benefits also but that's reserved for another post in future.
