The Future Office: Rising Expectations in a Hybrid world’

Just three years ago remote working was the exception, not the rule. Today, it is clear it is here to stay.
In May this year, the ONS published new data revealing the number of homeworkers intending to continue working from home grew from 30% to 42%[1]. When we consider this includes all workers – including those whose jobs may not involve a formal office – the real trend towards homeworking is stronger than these figures appear on first glance.
As more and more people look to a future of hybrid working our team at Landsec have combined their own research with new polling of 800 UK workers to build a better picture of how the office creates value in a hybrid world.?
The role of the office is changing and rather than cry ‘the office is dead’, we at Landsec believe this new way of working offers numerous opportunities, not least for landlords and customers to work together in partnership. This new era for offices requires landlords to work hand in hand with their customers to develop innovative spaces that best serve the needs of their people. Spaces that create collaborative and open working environments, and that meaningfully contribute to a culture that enables businesses to thrive.
This belief sits at the core of our latest research project, ‘The Future Office: Rising Expectations in a Hybrid world’. We hope this paper helps to guide businesses as they make critical real estate decisions.
Decisions that affect their employees, their customers, their culture and their productivity.
