The Future of Mobility is already here. Ready for the ride?
In the interesting McKinsey article, "Autonomous driving's future: convenient and connected", the authors state that autonomous driving will change the way we see and enjoy the time spent in traffic - much of it in a hellish stop-start.
With the adoption of systems with increasingly automatic driving, we can pay attention to other things while in the car. And, if everything is connected, everything will be more efficient, with fewer setbacks, fewer accidents, and traffic management systems. And even use a car without a driving license.?If the car drives itself, you can apply your attention to other tasks, right?
We may be witnessing a new work paradigm, in which employees continue to opt for presential or hybrid work - the post-pandemic trend - but time on the commute will be?counted as actual working time.?
As the article mentions, this may even mean expanding housing options - if travel time is already effective working time, the employee can move to other regions of the country, less populated and inflated. The autonomous vehicles will also represent more efficient?travels - i.e., with lower cost.
And this new form of mobility will necessarily imply an adaptation of service providers. A person driving an autonomous vehicle, who has a new notion of time and what technology can do for him, will not want to spend long minutes - if not hours - on the phone waiting for an answer.

No matter how autonomous a car is, it will continue to break down, needing new batteries, changing tires, undergoing overhauls. And the driver will want a fast and efficient service, which meets his characteristics, without having to spend a lot of time thinking about that.
Insurance companies, banks, repair shops, i.e., mobility key stakeholders,. will have to offer all the necessary support - not over the phone or by letter, but in half a dozen clicks. Because the driver already has his vehicle to take him safely to the established place. Now it needs insurance and mobility service providers to keep up.
