Future of Marketing on Twitter as a News app?

While this is a mere re-categorization for some, this to me is indicative of so much more. By re-categorizing itself as a news app instead of a social app, Twitter is putting engagement behind information. For an app that I personally think brought brands and consumers together in an unprecedented, real-time direct way and ushered in this age of brand engagement, this is the nail in the coffin of Twitter as we knew it: https://marketingland.com/twitter-recategorized-app-social-networking-news-apples-app-store-175070

Sure, they definitely are "Trending Information" network unlike other "near" real-time apps. Plus, it's the most frequently updated news/info. There are room for improvement in the marketing monetizing with the formats that should be tailored for trending moments.
