The Future of Marketing: Explained by ChatGPT... in the style of Terry Pratchett.

Inspired by Dylan Brent 's article (linked at the end of this one), I asked ChatGPT what the future of marketing (and marketing jobs) looked like now that we have AI and tools like itself. Then, I asked it to write it in the style of Terry Pratchett...

My Monday Morning Collab with #ChatGPT:

Marketing, my dear friend, is a tricky old business, much like trying to sneak a frying pan past Nanny Ogg without her noticing. But with the advent of AI and tools like ChatGPT, the future is looking bright. Oh, we'll be able to personalize campaigns like never before, using AI to tailor messages and content to each and every customer, just like Granny Weatherwax's famous "I ain't dead yet" spell that keeps her ahead of the game.

As for virtual and augmented reality, well, just imagine being able to take your customers on a journey through your product or service, as if they were right there in the thick of it, like a trip to the Discworld's Ankh-Morpork. It's like opening a door to a whole new world, one where the customer can see, touch and feel your product before they even buy it.

"It could be a right good thing." Nanny Ogg took a sip of her tea. "With all this personalization and prediction, it's like knowing what someone wants before they even know it themselves. It's like magic, but not magic."

"But we must be careful not to get carried away with all this technology. We must use it to engage customers in a meaningful way, not just bamboozle them with flashy gimmicks. It's all about the headology, you know," said Granny.

"It's like using a frying pan to crack a nut, it's not always necessary," Nanny agreed. "And I hear tell that with all this new technology, the jobs in marketing will shift. There'll be less focus on manual tasks and more on strategy and creativity. It's a good thing, I say."

"Indeed, Nanny. It's like Death taking on an apprentice, it makes the job more interesting and efficient," Granny added with a chuckle.

ANYWAY, SPEAKING OF... I'VE GOT AN APPOINTMENT WITH TELEMARKETING LATER, said Death pocketing Nanny Ogg's famous "Cackle Fruit" recipe. I WONDER IF THEY WILL TRY TO SELL ME AN AI THAT CAN CHEAT DEATH...

Full disclosure: While I was super impressed by ChatGPT overall, this article definitely took some iterations to get to this point and I still had to shuffle some things around before my inner Discworld Fangirl was content.

I tend to agree with Nanny here - I think AI can help take some of the tedious marketing tasks off your plate which is exceptionally valuable to a small team.

What's your take in AI's impact on the future of jobs in #marketing?
