8 年The term Smart Ticketing actually comes from Smart Card rather than Smart Phone but both smart phone ticketing and smart card ticketing have been overtaken very substantially by what TfL have done in London in London in any case - enabling any bank issued debit or credit card to be used as your ticket and payment method - thus ensuring that it is independent of device choice does not clutter the wallet with yet another card!

8 年Smart ticketing is a name derived from enabling "smart" phones to act as your ticket. The basis being that you carry your phone, therefore it is easier to have your ticket on your phone. Benefits for the customer mean, no fumbling for cash, can pay by card, don't have to carry paper tickets or indeed fill your wallet with another card. Benefit for the operator, speeds boarding, saves paper or the production of cards, money straight into the bank!
