2 年Kindness is an integral part of relationships right? We have to be careful here though don’t we? What people want most is to have their needs met. To be valued, thanked, to make a difference and to develop and grow. Kindness is of course a good thing but it needs to be countered with stretch and challenge. And some need and want more challenge. Others need more support. We just need to handle both with greater humility and understanding of the individual. Kindness alone does not drive performance - and at the risk of being controversial - does it not risk creating a culture of protection and compromise when what we want is to both support and challenge in the right measure in order to get the best out of each individual in order to drive performance?

2 年Good read, Kevin. Thanks! It reminds me of another powerful article I read last year where they said that kindness is the opposite of stress. Not "peace” or “calm” or “tranquillity" as we might think, but kindness. See https://drdavidhamilton.com/kindness-is-the-opposite-of-stress/
