The Future of KITA
Lynn Fors, MA, CHI? - Spanish
Executive Director at Access Language Solutions | Advocate
Access Language Solutions and the Kentucky Interpreter and Translator Association (KITA) have a long history of working together. Both nonprofits' missions are similar, and the founder of ALS is a founding member and former president of KITA.
As of August 17 this year, KITA has been dissolved as a nonprofit organization. ALS has absorbed KITA, which will become its education arm. The Core Medical Interpreter Training, a 64-hour entry-level course, will continue under the auspices of ALS. Anyone interested in this training should [email protected]. The next course is planned for January 2023.
As part of ALS, KITA will have access to an Executive Director and virtual assistants. As the reorganization continues, ALS hopes to grow KITA again to provide more continuing education opportunities for interpreters and translators. Specifically, we are interested in creating a one-day Interpreter and Translator Forum on September 30, 2023, that includes sessions on medical, court/legal, and immigration topics.
For anyone interested in getting involved in creating the new KITA agenda and/or the 2023 Forum [email protected].
