At LGRA, Sandy Simpson, VP and Head of HR, and Jamie Andrea, Human Resources Generalist, had the opportunity to attend the annual Gartner Reimagine HR Conference in Orlando, FL on October 23-25.
The conference was Gartner’s largest attended so far and included insightful presentations and forward-thinking conversations with accomplished cohorts of CHROs and HR leaders. The last three years disrupted our way of working and forced the HR function to transform work models, be innovative, and focus on employee wellbeing. More recently, new trends in technology continue to present new opportunities for innovation.
A few key takeaways stood out from the conference. The first being the concept of “Everyday Bold” – the idea that being bold is a practice, not a moment, and we are responsible for creating conditions where trust is built so we can confidentially break boundaries, try new things, and encourage others to stretch themselves. The second was about the barriers to change, with the idea that resistance to change is the inertia of changing behaviors, not the actual opposition of the change. People adapt quickly when change is irreversible and made swiftly but this does not limit process improvement through continual feedback. There were also best practices shared about how to make learning more impactful and applicable beyond the classroom. A top priority for HR teams continues to be developing leadership teams. One of our goals as leaders, is to empower our employees with continuous improvement and initialize education activities before and after moments of learning that allow people to understand how it is connected to their role and development for driving their career.

Attending these conferences is always helpful in terms of assessing our current practices, recognizing where we are currently applying best practices, and where we can apply new energy to support the organization.
Thank you for the great learning experiences and conference!
