“King Liston will stay,

Only until he meets Cassius Clay.

Moore fell in four,

Liston in eight!”

That was Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay). Pronouncing the result much before he fought that iconic match with Sonny Liston in 1964. The press declared him a hoax. The odds clearly favoured Sonny Liston.

But Ali’s prediction came true! Ali won. Sonny Liston did fall in the predicted eight rounds.

And then, when the press came to see him, as they started asking him questions, he bellowed: “..I told you I was gonna get Liston and I got him…”

Mohammad Ali came across often as a brash, arrogant man. Predicting his own victory before the first bell? Preposterous, you might argue like several others. Yet, in his eyes, flickered a glint, not of cockiness, but of certainty.

His voice boomed:

"Archie Moore, you're going down in round four."

"Sonny Liston, you're a marshmallow!”

This wasn't mere boasting. He was determined and strong willed. So strong that out of 19 fights where he predicted his win, he won 17!

As he fought on, champions crumbled before him. Ali wasn't just fighting opponents; he was fighting doubt, fear and the very fabric of uncertainty itself.

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision.”

Anyone who knows, has read about, or heard about Ali knows one distinguishing feature of his, Courage. In Ali’s words,

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

His brashness, often labeled as "loudmouthing" and "braggery," served as another unique quirk in his captivating human personality. Ali's showmanship wasn't just empty boasting. It was a psychological weapon, designed to unnerve opponents, rally supporters and his own mind.

It seemed to have tremendous power. He called it "Future History". And thats something that we have found fascinating and have been delving into the science behind it. Stay tuned for more.
