The Future of Fundraising

Welcome to the future of fundraising.

This week, Roger M. Craver , renowned innovator, entrepreneur, and longtime publisher of the fundraising publication The Agitator, wrote a wonderful article about the impact that our work researching, developing and deploying the world’s first fully autonomous frontline fundraiser at Version2.ai could have on the fundraising industry. The autonomous fundraiser is one of the most important initiatives in fundraising. As fundraising talent shortages reach epidemic levels, the importance of the autonomous fundraiser lies not in the technological leaps required to create it, but in the shift to develop technology that enables fundraisers to build autonomous AI technology capable of duplicating their efforts and, quite possibly, their outcomes.?

As the father of six children, when I think about the application of autonomous artificial intelligence on fundraising for a children’s hospital, for example, it seems trivial to question whether researching, developing and deploying autonomous fundraising technology is worthwhile. Of course, children’s hospitals deserve as much funding as possible and they deserve our industry’s best, brightest and most ambitious leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs all focused on finding ways to use technology to support the most important causes in the world.?

With our early successful tests last week, it’s now clear to our team that the question isn’t “should we build autonomous fundraising technology” or, “can we build autonomous fundraising technology” but rather how fast can we bring this technology to market to make the most immediate impact possible.?

We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support we’ve received from fundraisers, development leaders, Presidents and Board members at some of the world’s largest and most impactful organizations, all supporting our vision for autonomous fundraising to sit alongside traditional fundraisers and reimagine a human/computer cooperative. This cooperative doesn’t augment a fundraiser’s ability to fundraise, but rather duplicates their efforts to provide scale never before thought possible.??

This scale is the most important initiative of our time and, if our team can build this technology in a way that accelerates the missions of hospitals, foodbanks, shelters and human rights organizations, our work researching, developing and deploying autonomous fundraising technology will truly change the world.?

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be making major announcements about strategic partnerships, significant technological innovations and breakthrough fundraising use-cases that will reimagine everything our industry knows about fundraising.??

Also, if you want to change the world with us, we’re hiring aggressively, not only for engineers, but also for fundraising experts who truly believe that today can be better than yesterday. Email [email protected] and our team will look forward to meeting you.

Here's what's on my radar:

[The Agitator] Can AI Provide an Answer to Donor Neglect?

[The Agitator] Can AI Provide an Answer to Donor Neglect?

Roger Craver writes…

I sure hope so. And, in fact, my hopes were boosted with the arrival of the press release at Agitator HQ announcing Version2. Version2, launched by Adam Martel and his firm Givzey, is the first AI research and design lab specifically focused on advancing fundraising in the nonprofit sector.

Specifically, Version2’s goal is to have their AI process both successfully and autonomously manage a portfolio of donors, like the way a knowledgeable, experienced fundraiser would.

I took this announcement more seriously than I do most claims involving AI because Adam is not a techie, he’s an experienced fundraiser who understands in practical ways the application of technology to our trade. He proved this with the success of his earlier firm Gravyty.

World’s First Fully Autonomous Fundraiser Breaks the Digital Threshold by Combining AI with Robotics to Independently Craft and Send Personal, Handwritten Notes to Donors

World’s First Fully Autonomous Fundraiser Breaks the Digital Threshold by Combining AI with Robotics to Independently Craft and Send Personal, Handwritten Notes to Donors

Version2’s autonomous fundraisers have already proven that they can work independently with donors to produce gifts as a natural outcome of a guided donor engagement journey. Now, as Version2.ai takes its next step forward, the autonomous fundraiser will learn how to steward donors in appropriate ways, just as a human fundraiser would.

When donors are introduced to the autonomous fundraiser, it’s the donor’s birthday, or the donor reaches stewardship stages, Version2’s fully autonomous fundraisers now have the ability to craft hand-written messages and send these messages to IgnitePOST , which uses its intelligent robots to take pen to paper and hand write the stewardship notes, at scale.

[GUIDE] Transforming the Multi-Year Donor Giving Experience

In an era where seamless digital experiences are the norm, from booking the perfect stay on Airbnb, to tracking and optimizing every health metrics, to discovering a hidden gem on Netflix based on your unique tastes, people have grown to expect convenience, simplicity, and personalization in every interaction. There’s a certain satisfaction we receive from these experiences. This expectation doesn't end at the doorstep of nonprofit organizations.

Today's donors, accustomed to the dynamic, user-friendly interfaces of their favorite for-profits, are looking for similar experiences when it comes to supporting causes they care about.

In this guide, we explore how to offer donors a satisfying giving experience that turns the act of making a pledge from transactional to relational.
