The Future of Fundraising 8/13/23

Welcome to the Future of Fundraising, your source for modern fundraising.

If you think back to three and a half years ago, could you imagine relying on Zoom, Microsoft Zoom, Google Hangouts, or any other video conferencing software, as much as you do today?

Even when we had the option to video conference with each other, we often opted for a traditional conference call. But then the pandemic happened. And now, video conferencing apps aren’t the future or new –?they’re just how we make calls. When technology is less about “tech” and more about a solution, it’s amazing how quickly we welcome it into our everyday lives and produce change.

In fundraising, there was a time when some of our most prestigious and well-funded organizations publicly stated that online giving pages and digital fundraising, in general, would not be a part of their future.

As I write this week’s newsletter, I’m mindful of the fundraising leaders who prioritize finding solutions to fundraising strategies that weren’t possible in the past and who want to make our industry better.

Recently, I’ve seen leaders scale multi-year giving strategies to areas of the giving pyramid they never thought possible with Digital Gift Agreements –?chipping away at the retention problem, increasing overall revenue, and building tomorrow’s pipeline all at the same time.

I encourage you to see how others, across the many fundraising disciplines , are reaching donors with multi-year giving strategies at all giving levels.

Here's what's on my fundraising radar this week:

How to Make Multi-Year Giving Easy for Your Board Members

How to Make Multi-Year Giving Easy for Your Board Members

Board members are some of your most unique donors. Even within the distinction of being "on the board," there are so many different types of board members. We have our board of directors – of course, perhaps advisory board members, fundraising board members, volunteer board members, young alumni board members, and on, and on. Board members are invested in your organization in ways others aren't and each of these relationships needs special care and attention.

Organizations often do a delicate dance around this topic, but it doesn't have to be difficult.

In this post, we'll look at how to systematically avoid awkwardness, set expectations, get commitments from, and make it easy for your board members to follow through with their gifts on time. (KEEP READING )
