The Future of Fundraising 7/30/23

Welcome to the Future of Fundraising.

Artificial Intelligence plays a big role in our world today, but the truth is that we can’t even imagine all of the ways it will impact us in the future.

When I first brought AI to fundraising in 2016 with the launch of Gravyty, of those who were willing to consider an AI solution for fundraising, many said that AI could never fit into the delicate fundraiser-donor relationship. However, in the past few months, with the proliferation of tools like ChatGPT, I’ve seen many of the same people experiment with AI. They’ve used AI for generating writing prompts for stewardship touchpoints, creating subject lines for solicitations, and more.

As we continue to experiment with AI in fundraising, it will have more and more of an impact on our work. But there’s always the fear that AI will replace professions. I believe that it’s those who find ways to make AI work for them that will be the most successful in the future.

That’s why, in the coming weeks, I’ll keep you up to date on AI in our space and highlight everything you need to know to stay at the very top of our amazing profession.

Here's what's on my fundraising radar this week:

Digital Gift Agreements and e-Signature technologies are different solutions to different problems. Let's look into why. (KEEP READING )

Louis Diez at Donor Participation Project just posted about one of these experiments: https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/louisdiez_we-want-everyone-who-is-interested-to-have-activity-7091744961863241728-rAfV?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop From his post: We built an AI Fundraising Coach and trained it with principles of the Donor Participation Project: - Engagement leads to solicitation - Co-creation with donors leads to greater investment - Making people feel valued and seen It's giving some surprisingly good answers! Try your most frustrating questions: ?? "Why didn't we get any MacKenzie Scott money?" ?? "Our board is obsessed with having a gala!" ?? "We need more people with connections on the board." ?? "Why aren't we making our numbers? We need to ask more aggressively!" ?? "Help me prioritize, I'm completely overwhelmed."
