The Future of European Retail: Webinar

The Future of European Retail: Webinar

Are you asking the question, “What changed in European retail in 2023?” and then coming up with the answer, “What didn’t change?”

The latest European retail fads seem to come and go just as fast as they arrived. In 2020, countryside proximity stores saw a boom, followed by quick-commerce startups in 2021. We experienced a wave of mergers in 2022, followed by buying alliance realignment in 2023 and the exit of several large retailers from key markets. The downfall of Cora (Louis Delhaize) and Groupe Casino in France seems particularly memorable as we look back on 2023.

We at Retail Cities find that obsessing about the latest fad stories in retail is interesting but unproductive. Instead, we encourage to talk about long-term structural changes in European retail which require a new ethos and set of resources.

Join Boris Planer , Sebastian Rennack , and Ray Gaul on 21st March at noon CET as we discuss these long-term structural changes in retail. Registration is free and we would love to have you join and learn more about what the experts see coming in 2024/2025.

Here are the topics we’ll highlight:

·??????? Intro: New Giants in European Retail. ?Retail Cities will release our annual Top European Retailers and Buying Alliance rankings – for registered webinar attendees – and walk through the new power centers in European Retail and what it means for 2024/2025 go-to-market initiatives.

·??????? Structural Changes: Channels and Prices. Through the eyes of an experienced retail economist, Boris will talk you through the key trends in Europe’s growth and inflation landscape. Scanning for investment opportunities across regions, markets, consumer cohorts and categories, he will then highlight implications for major retail segments to add insight to your planning process.

·??????? The Growing East-West Divide:? Sebastian Rennack will walk through the multiple reasons why new strategies are needed to build successful retail engagements in the fast-changing markets of the Baltics, Central Europe, and the Balkans – comparing conditions to core-Western European markets and providing implications.

Very much looking forward to taking a joint look with Ray Gaul and Sebastian Rennack at where the consumer and economic environment are headed, what this means for different retail channels, where this is opening up new opportunities to invest - and who in particular is a good bet for growth now.
