The future is E-Commerce

The future is E-Commerce

I remember a time when people were too skeptical to buy anything online. Buying something without actually seeing the product didn't seem appealing to many. Not much has changed since then. People still like to see the product up, close, and personal.

But then Corona came. Going to the market was not an option even back in February when the cases were on the rise. Many had to step out of their comfort zone and resort to online shopping. It only took so many years and a global pandemic to convince people to shop online.

The sale of every product is on the rise. E-commerce in the U.S. is up by 25%. All thanks to COVID-19. The effects of Coronavirus on our shopping habits are here to stay.

Companies that have invested in digital transformation in the past are relishing the fruit of their labor. With lockdown and social distancing being enforced throughout the world, Buyers have only two options.

1) Physically go to the supermarket

2) Order products online.

Going to the supermarket seems like a significant risk right now with the outbreak of Coronavirus. Due to the pandemic fear, buyers tend to hoard. The shelves of the supermarkets will get empty sooner as a result. Some who need the products will feel helpless. So, ordering products online seem to be a lucrative option.

It takes a lot of manpower to keep the e-commerce business going. From managing warehouses to delivering products, there is a lot that needs to be taken care of. So what can be done to make the work a little easy and worthwhile?

The use of technology like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality is a viable option. Les Petit Joueurs is an Italian luxury bag maker who launched Augmented Reality options to try on every product you choose. Lenskart is another retailer of spectacles that allow its users to try on the spectacles they wish to buy through Augmented Reality.

While we fight the battle against COVID-19, many opportunities for the future have lined up. As we go shop through e-commerce websites out of necessity right now, we will do so out of habit in the future. There is no going back. Better e-commerce technology will help shape the future.

Dear Shreedeeo, appreciate the kind mention. ?India's E-commerce?revenue is expected to jump from US$ 39 billion in 2017 to US$ 120 billion in 2020, growing at an annual rate of 51 per cent, the highest in the world. This is showing a very healthy trend for E Commerce business and therefore your article is very apt and timely at this moment when E Commerce can be a great vehicle for economic growth.
