Someone once said that there were 5 exabytes of information created between the dawn of civilization through 2003, but that much information is now created every two days. With that amount of data and information in the world business might be overwhelmed. Some even feel that only a robot or a cyborg can handle that much information, but according to Elon Musk we’re already cyborgs.

He further elaborated by saying “You have a digital version of yourself, a partial version of yourself online in the form of your emails, your social media, and all the things that you do.” He claims that we already have “super powers,” citing the world’s access to smartphones and personal computers giving us more power than the president of the United States had 20 years ago.

The only thing getting in our way is the input/output between us and the devices that we are connected to. The solution is to merge symbiotically with digital intelligence by creating a “neural lace.”

What Is A Neural?Lace?

A neural lace is an ultra-thin mesh with a collection of electrodes capable of monitoring brain function and facilitating direct computing capabilities from thought.

What Does This?Mean?

Elon believes that humans have to destroy the boundaries between humans and technology in order for us to keep up with the growing demands of the future. Many scientists agree with him and believe that is the next step to be taken when it comes to science.

However since we have not reached that level yet the best alternative we currently have are the great advancement in deep learning.

Deep learning is when we program and train machines in order to act more like humans so that they can do things like learn by example. This means that until we have made humans capable of instantly accessing data, scientists are working on making machines able to do what to process the data as well as a human would. Some see this as meeting the future halfway to make it easier for human integration with the advancement of deep learning.

One of the advances made in deep learning is the creation of algorithms that are more and more capable of mimicking the human brain. Another advancement is the creation of programs that improve rapidly in an incremental and iterative process. Making the theory of machine advancement and human advancement meeting in the middle more and more of a reality.
