It was an unexpected change that we all have witnessed. But a change it has been.
Human behaviours have changed and these changes are here to stay.
Organisations will create new strategies. They will be more focussed and more productive. But their main assets are going to be their people.
Today, we are witnessing levels of frustration, anger, grief, uncertainty, desperation, demotivation like never before. Mental health has become the biggest concern.
This change needs a shift in thought patterns at a very deeper level.
Any change is first faced by resistance. And we will see the resistance when this change will be lived as we emerge post the lockdown.
To support this change, people will have to be mentally much more stronger than we have ever been.
Organisations are dealing with a lot. The leaders are already working on strategies post covid. But the fact is, everyone is dealing with many other issues at the same time.
“People” have various responsibilities, they are accountable for much more than we can think.
“Think”, what do we need to support most today?
It’s the paradigm of change. Because the change is already here and it will become more prominent in our life as time goes by.
The upheaval of our normal way of life, has already started showing signs of frustration and impatience in a lot of people. And in such a state, productivity will only diminish and the impact will be for both, employers and employees.
It’s about being proactive today. Predicting what is needed to implement the change and successfully execute it.
The prerequisite fo any and every change, being the way we think or what we call collectively “the mindset”.
How is it going to impact us?
- It is what creates resistance
- It is what makes us complain
- It is what desires the old and fears the new
- It is what will reduce productivity
- It is what will increase fear and uncertainty
- It is what can accelerate “pivot”
- It is what inspires innovation
- It is what motivates growth
The post cover world will be filled with uncertainties. The way forward will need restructuring a couple of times more than expected.
We can’t predict all of that.
But what we can predict is :
- Mentally strong individuals will be able to handle the stress and the uncertainty
- Resilience will give organisations a team o change makers
- New strategies will be employee centric
- Accountability will have to be “self monitored”
- Synergistic collaborations will have to be created and developed.
- Empathy will be a core value in an organisation.
The power of the mind is infinite. We may not be able to predict it all. But we have the power to embrace and ace it.
So, what do we need to do?
- Don’t wait for the problem. Provide support to your employees.
- Remember it’s cheaper to retain than to employee new.
- Provide opportunities to up-skill and upgrade.
- Strategic allocation of talent pool to facilitate effectiveness of work.
- Develop the eco system which enables change.
