There are a lot of questions from “Why live in a smaller home to what is living minimally?†Here we will try to simplify things in they way we view the future of building communities.
First off, the average American house is roughly 2650 square feet. This is a huge area to decorate, fill with furniture, clean and pay utilities for. The Micro Home Movement houses are from 400-1600 square feet. Now does this mean that your house is not going to be elegant or spacious. NO NO NO. Actually by having a smaller house built, you would be able to spent more time and money in the finishing touches of your house. I mean this is going to be your home in which you might live in the rest of your life or raise a family in or might be just one of many homes you might have across the world.
The smaller homes and condos are on the rise because of the financial, economical and freedom advantage they produce. The trend is really attracting individuals, couples and families to re think the bigger is better mentality we have created. Shrinking the size of the home not only cuts down cost but it's a lifestyle change that impacts not only your life but the environment around you.
Smaller and more efficiency are all about balance. The smaller they are the less comfortable they might seem to be at first compared to the average homes. The key is to build the home for what you need while still offering ample storage space, elegant interior design and plenty of room for the normally used rooms. But with the new technologies and efficiencies we can create a home that really fits your needs.
One huge factor about a smaller homes is being able to bring your family, friends, neighbors and community closer to one another. We as a whole have been separating ourselves from our neighbors and building walls that we have lost that social interaction that we as humans need. Now when is the last time you stepped out your door and was able to say hi to your neighbor without having to walk down your driveway and half way down the block? Not saying this will be for everyone but that is why we build multi-families in communities so that they can be closer together, more cost effective and more walkable.
The biggest reason people are starting to lean towards smaller homes is the ability to buy a house and not have to have such a huge financial burden but still be able to have that beautiful house they call home.
In the end a smaller homes will save you in time and money. On top of that it gives you a simpler lifestyle, more free time and allows you to spend more money on the key areas of the house or life you want to make more elegant. Also with the new age of mobility, travel, remote jobs, etc the future of living is going to be different than we are used. Then next topic is going to be the future of business travel, hotels and the new age of the so called offices with cubicles.
“Why live big when you can live better.â€
